CONFLANS-ST.-HONORINE

Day 2: 1:30 am - 5:00 pm

The day begins early in the morning with an arrival in Conflans-Saint-Honorine, a picturesque town situated at the meeting point of the Oise and Seine rivers. A guided tour leads to the nearby village of Auvers-sur-Oise, a quaint and charming French town characterized by its narrow lanes, shuttered houses, and the subtle fragrance of roses that accompanies each step. The serene beauty of this village has long inspired artistic creativity, serving as a muse for prominent Impressionist painters such as Cézanne, Pissarro, and Daubigny. The most renowned of these is Vincent van Gogh, whose legacy endures here, as Auvers-sur-Oise is home to his final resting place. The departure from this idyllic setting takes place later in the afternoon.

ROUEN

Day 3: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

The day begins with a walking tour in the capital of the Normandy region, featuring a visit to the iconic cathedral that inspired Claude Monet's famous series of paintings. The tour also includes the modern Church of Joan of Arc, which houses stunning 16th-century stained-glass windows. In the afternoon, the journey steps back in time to the 17th century with a visit to Le Pressoir d’Or, a traditional farmhouse. Here, the experience includes sampling cider, exploring the orchard cellar, and viewing a museum dedicated to the historic apple press.

The day continues with a trip to Lyons-la-Forêt, a picturesque village recognized as one of the most beautiful in France. Located 30 kilometers east of Rouen, this charming destination is surrounded by the lush woodlands of Normandy, providing a serene and enchanting setting. Later in the afternoon, the vessel resumes its journey, heading further northward along the river.

LE HAVRE

Day 4: Arrive 3:30 am
Day 5: Depart 9:00 am

The harbor of Le Havre serves as an ideal starting point for two optional land excursions. The morning offers an opportunity to visit the nearby city of Honfleur, renowned for its charming old harbor framed by 16th- to 18th-century townhouses that create a picturesque and historic atmosphere. Following lunch, the exploration shifts to the Norman coastline with a walk along the cliff-top paths of Étretat. These trails offer breathtaking views of the dramatic chalk cliffs and their striking needle-like formations, a natural spectacle that has inspired countless artists and visitors.

In the evening, the AMADEUS vessel becomes a stage for French culture as local chanson singers perform, providing a delightful immersion into the music and traditions of the region.

One option includes a visit to the city of Arromanches, closely tied to the liberation of Western Europe after D-Day. This destination features remnants of the World War II Mulberries, the artificial harbors constructed to support the Allied landings. Alternatively, an excursion to Fécamp offers the chance to explore this scenic seaside resort, which is home to Le Palais Bénédictine. This grand structure is the birthplace of the renowned liqueur created by Benedictine monks in the 16th century.

Later in the evening, after dinner, the vessel resumes its journey, departing from the harbor to continue the voyage.

A delightful lunch on board the vessel sets the stage for an afternoon excursion to Château de Malmaison, the elegant former residence of Joséphine and Napoleon Bonaparte.
