Call for Proposals Open Through Sept. 13

Internet2 Community Exchange showcases the community spirit which transforms the way research and scholarship are conceived and conducted. We are looking for proposals for sessions (presentations, panels, and lightning talks), working meetings, and posters in these areas:

Leveraging Advanced Networking

This track focuses on network innovation and automation, ecosystem-wide collaborations, routing integrity and security, trusted infrastructure, and network foundations and tools to enable future innovations in research and scholarship. Themes and proposals in this track will highlight innovations, modernization and automation, support for research programs, network security, technology implementations, and collaborations for delivering research and academic services across local, national, and global advanced networks.

Cloud Services and Solutions

Cloud technology has become an important tool in the IT toolkit of the R&E community. We leverage infrastructure and platforms as a service (IaaS and PaaS) for the flexibility, scalability, and reliability offered. Services that can be commoditized to software as a service (SaaS) allow us to trade some control and operational responsibility for innovation. This cloud (r)evolution has led to the development of many fascinating academic, administrative, and research solutions.

Proposals will explore the latest uses of cloud computing and services in the R&E community. Appropriate submissions focus on IaaS or PaaS, SaaS, or their combination in service to the research and academic mission. The track will consist of three main themes:

  • Strategic Use of Cloud Technologies
  • Leveraging the Cloud for Core Mission
  • Optimizing Cloud Service Deployments

Security Concerns, Collaborations, and Solutions

This track focuses on data, network, and identity-related security concerns for the global R&E environment, including but not limited to:

  • Common security issues in R&E environments
  • Promoting security leadership and strengthening the key global Internet infrastructure
  • Addressing the research community’s unique network security needs
  • The role of Federated Identity in the context of Research & Education infrastructure

Challenges & Opportunities with Emerging Technologies

This track focuses on the impact of new technologies, policies, and practices – such as artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, leveraging large language models in the classroom, and resource challenges, among others – on research and education, including challenges confronting under-resourced budgets.

Talks will highlight innovative uses for these new technologies and how they may shape the future of national and global collaborations, with emphasis on barriers to success for under-resourced institutions, with distributed workforces, and the challenges faced by researchers collaborating amidst global campuses, virtual organizations, and national and commercial facilities.
