Saint Alphonsus Ski & Mountain Trauma Conference is an annual conference for first responders that combines expert lectures with opportunities for hands-on simulation sessions - all in beautiful Sun Valley, ID.

If you are an EMT, paramedic, ski patrol or just love wilderness medicine and rescue – this conference is sure to give you and your team the latest education and techniques to handle any situation in the remote wilderness. The conference includes:

Keynote Presentation

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, two critically injured sailors are on board a commercial ship. This is their rescuer’s tale of a daring technical rescue utilizing unique clinical logistics, medical decision making, and application of cutting-edge burn resuscitation and management in an environment with few resources.

Dr. Michael Lauria has spent his career in special operations from completing the rigorous Pararescue (PJ) training pipeline with the US Air Force to serving as the primary medic assigned to a Combat Search and Rescue Team, Joint Special Operations Task Force, and in support of C Company, 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and Critical Care/Flight Paramedic for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART). Today, he dedicates himself as an Emergency and Critical Care Physician to draw from the fields of psychology, cognitive science, organizational behavior, performance science, and Human Factors to improve the way that we provide emergency medical care inside and outside of the hospital setting.
