End Energy Users Panel Workshop

Decarbonizing with nuclear: Bridging Perspectives between the Nuclear Industry and End Energy Users

In collaboration with

End Energy Users Panel

The World Nuclear Association's End Energy Users Panel serves as a collaborative platform between the nuclear industry and energy-intensive sectors. Its primary goal is to establish a constructive dialogue addressing the needs of energy-intensive industries and fostering confidence in the utilization of nuclear power for a sustainable and decarbonized energy future. The panel is dedicated to sharing experiences and best practices in stakeholder engagement, adherence to environmental, social, and corporate governance principles, and various areas essential for the successful and timely deployment of nuclear technology for industrial purposes. Key initiatives include identifying gaps in legal, contractual, and regulatory frameworks, navigating interfaces between nuclear and non-nuclear technologies, and exploring new business models to manage nuclear liabilities, including (used) fuel management solutions.

With this group, the World Nuclear Association aims to contribute to the effective and sustainable integration of nuclear energy across diverse industrial settings and provide a comprehensive understanding of nuclear energy's economic viability in industrial settings, including 'Power-to-X' by promoting the collaboration and exchanges between different stakeholders.

Welcome to the First End Energy Users Panel Workshop

World Nuclear Association, in collaboration with White & Case LLP, is looking forward to the participation of professionals from the nuclear industry, energy-intensive sectors and financial institutions in this first workshop. This event aims to foster exchanges on key topics, providing an excellent opportunity to reflect on the potential of using SMRs to decarbonize the industry, the needs of energy-intensive sectors, the challenges that may be raised at the front end and the back end of these projects, and some of the potential structures and financing schemes that could be considered. The insights gained from this workshop will contribute to advance the dialogue among all the relevant stakeholders and will inform the agenda for the next meetings of the EEU Panel, as well as future joint sessions with other World Nuclear Association working groups, and the World Nuclear Symposium.

This one-day in person workshop will be held on Thursday 20 June 2024 at White & Case offices, 19 Place Vendôme, Paris (France). We look forward to a fruitful and enriching event that brings together professionals from diverse industries in the heart of this dynamic city.
