Parking

Parking permits are required on the UC San Diego campus seven days a week: Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 11:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 10:30am to 11:00pm.

• Permits may be purchased online through the Transportation & Parking Services website or via the ParkMobile App.
• Visiting UC faculty and staff who hold annual permits at their home campuses are eligible for up to 5 consecutive days of complimentary parking at UC San Diego. Visit for more details: https://transportation.ucsd.edu/visit/visitor/reciprocity.html.
• The most convenient parking location is the Hopkins parking structure located on Hopkins Dr and Voigt Dr, just south of SDSC 
  • Alternatively, Pangea parking structure is also available.
• Both parking locations offer spaces in the following:
  •  "B" (Green) and  "S" (Yellow) at $8/day (Park Mobile App enter zone number 47800)

  • "V" (White) spaces at $32/day (Park Mobile enter zone number 4752)
• Parking legally is the attendee’s responsibility. The penalty for an improperly parked car is at least $65 per day. We cannot be held responsible for citations issued for parking in an incorrect space or improperly displaying your permit.
• Due to challenges with parking on-campus, we do advise using other methods such as some noted below if possible.

Transportation

Ride share services are recommended if you chose not to drive onto campus.

• 30: UTC, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Old Town, downtown San Diego
• 41: VA Hospital, UTC, Clairemont, Fashion Valley
• 101: UTC, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside NCTD
• 201/202 SuperLoop: UTC area
• 237: UC San Diego - Rancho Bernardo Transit Station
• 974: UC San Diego Coaster Connector; campus, Sorrento Valley Station
• 978: Torrey Pines, Sorrento Valley Station
• 979: North University City, Sorrento Valley Station

General logistics during the institute

• Food: Light refreshments and lunch will be provided from Monday through Friday with a reception on Monday and Thursday evening.
• Laptop Required: The HPC and Data Science Summer Institute is designed as hand-on program and does require that you bring a laptop with administrative privileges and wireless connectivity. Wireless is available to all attendees through UC San Diego GUEST network.
• Remote participation: Remote participation is not available.

Room & Board Scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS: ON-CAMPUS ROOM & BOARD (R&B)
Housing accommodations for R & B Scholarship participants is offered through UC San Diego Guest Housing.

• Housing check-in and check outs will take place at the Tapestry, Sixth College, North Torrey Pines Living Learning Neighborhood (9610 Scholars Drive North)
  • The Hospitality Information Desk is located on the southeast corner of the Tapestry Building, across from Sixth Market.  
  • Check-in Date and Time: Sunday, August 4, between noon - 8pm (Pacific Time) 
    •  o    If your arrival time is after 8pm PT, please reach out to 858-246-4634. 
  • Check-out Date and Time: Friday, August 9 by 11:00 am (Pacific Time)
