LLS Response to United Airlines NYC Half Cancellation

On March 10, 2020, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) released an official statement to cancel the United Airlines NYC Half scheduled for this Sunday, March 15, due to the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. You can read the full official statement from NYRR HERE.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is thankful for the funds you’ve raised through your participation with Team In Training (TNT).  In response to this cancellation notification, please note the following regarding your fundraising commitment to LLS and the status of your United Airlines NYC Half race entry with NYRR.

All fundraising teammates are released of their responsibility for meeting their fundraising commitment level. The secure credit card you provided during the commitment process will not be charged if you have not yet reached your fundraising commitment level.

• If you have exceeded 25% of your fundraising commitment level, you may choose to transfer to another event within one year. This requires leaving 25% of your original commitment amount in the current event account. Any additional funds are eligible to be transferred to the next event. If this scenario applies to you and you would like to transfer to another Team In Training event within one year, please complete THIS FORM by April 30, 2020.

NYRR has offered runners the option to select either a full refund of their 2020 NYC Half Marathon race entry fee or a guaranteed non-complimentary entry to the 2021 NYC Half Marathon next March (exact date TBD). Team In Training teammates may choose between these options. Per NYRR's statement, race registered athletes will receive communication within the next few days with instructions on how to indicate their choice. It is not necessary to notify Team In Training of your race entry selection.

All Team In Training hosted aspects of the United Airlines NYC Half event weekend, including all hotel reservations, the Team Rally & Lunch, meet & greet, shakeout run, and post-race meet up, are canceled.  Any teammate who has purchased guest lunch tickets and/or a hotel buyout will be refunded the full amount within five business days. 

We support this action and despite this cancellation we hope you will continue to support LLS and the patients we serve.
