The National Bleeding Disorders Foundation‘s (NBDF) Health Equity (HE) Summit “Every Hour, Every Day: Access and Political Determinants of Health” will be held May 30th and 31st in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Health Equity Summit is a fully in-person event and is by invitation only. Registration is required to attend. There is no registration fee, however, we will only accept registrations until Friday, April 5 at 11:59PM EST. There will be no registrations on-site. 

NBDF is dedicated to finding cures for inheritable blood and bleeding disorders and to addressing and preventing the complications of these disorders through research, education, and advocacy enabling people and families to thrive. To fulfill this mission, NBDF recognizes health equity is an integral component to meeting the mission. The HE Summit will solicit input from members of the inheritable blood and bleeding disorders community as well as from other important stakeholders such as providers, other organizations in the blood and bleeding disorder and rare disease community, health equity champions, and industry. Our goal for the HE Summit is to strive for equitable access and quality care for those with inheritable blood disorders.

The mission of the Health Equity Summit is as follows:

To bring together stakeholders around the topics of access to care and the political determinants of health for a better understanding of lived experiences, data outcomes, and evidence-based practices where each stakeholder group can intervene to make changes resulting in health equity for all. 

Objectives:

  1. Transform organizational culture and better understand the political determinants of health.
  2. Address emerging blood and bleeding disorders community health needs, including issues with access to care, by supporting adaptable, innovative, outcome-focused, sustainable programs and services.
  3. Improve access to services and treatment by supporting integration and coordination of health services.
  4. Expand stakeholder leadership that results in shared decision making as a way forward for sustainable initiatives that eliminate health disparities.

NBDF's Infectious Disease Duty of Care

For the purposes of this duty of care, infectious diseases include, but are not limited to, illnesses such as COVID, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), mpox, and other contagious diseases.

In alignment with NBDF's duty of care and our role as an event host, we follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and comply with the legal mandates of New Orleans, Louisiana for the Health Equity Summit.

Following recent updates in public health guidance, NBDF no longer mandates proof of vaccination or negative tests specific to any one disease (such as COVID-19) for attendance at the Health Equity Summit.
