Report on the First Smoking Cessation and Health Conference and 2021 plans.

Dear Colleague
Welcome to the Smoking Cessation and Health website: please have a look around especially the Resource page and the presentations from the inaugural Smoking Cessation and Health Conference in Feb 2020 .

Update: We are very pleased with the detailed comments from those able to attend the inaugural Smoking Cessation and Health Conference in Feb 2020. Those scoring over 8/10 were 84% would recommend to strongly recommend the conference.   Following this and the comments and positive reception of the inaugural Smoking Cessation and Health Conference, we feel it is appropriate to plan our second event. As for 2020, target delegates will be the full range of professionals connected with the research into, the managers and policy makers through to those practitioners charged with helping clients to stop smoking within secondary care.

Programme focus 2021:

The conference programme is in development and following the pandemic, is likely to include the impact of smoking on COVID-19 and how we can use the concerns that this has highlighted to encourage smokers to quit or switch to vaping. We will also look at recent developments with the Ottawa Model through secondary care and again focus on smoking in Pregnancy and in those with mental ill health following the feedback we received.

Many of the speakers from the first event have shown interest in being involved; so we have a strong team here; and through the establishment of SCaH and positive response to the first event we will be inviting further contributions from nationally and internationally renowned experts to speak.
Of importance we will be inviting work to be submitted from delegates through the Call for Abstracts.
This event and program will be published on this website at in September.

Action: If you did not attend the conference please send us your contact details so we can keep you informed of developments .
