Where will Arts Express be held?

Arts Express Summer Conference will be held at Viewpoint Middle School, located at 211 W Traverse Terrace Dr, Lehi, UT 84043. Visit our Location Page for directions and parking instructions. We encourage you to carpool with colleagues whenever possible!

How do I choose my sessions?

Arts Express offers a variety of creative, experiential, hands-on workshops. Before building your schedule, study the conference sessions carefully, noting which sessions run concurrently and which are most relevant to your teaching needs. We encourage you to broaden your artistic abilities and pedagogical scope. Need courage? Grab a friend and choose a session that might feel uncomfortable to you. Every session will be valuable and enriching.

What is the conference theme?

The BYU ARTS Partnership's motto is "Every Child, Every Art", and this year’s theme is “Circles All Around Us." We will be privileged to have Brad Montague, author and illustrator of the book Circles All Around Us, join us as a keynote speaker. Recent years in teaching have been heralded as the hardest ones yet. To ease the burden on teachers, our goals for Arts Express are designed for educators to:

  • Experience deep learning through experimentation, hands-on work, and embodied learning pedagogies;
  • Inspire joy by participating in workshops and keynotes that nourish them mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially; and
  • Increase the social capital they need to be successful in their work by engaging in our community.

How is this conference funded?

This conference is the best bargain around because of generous contributions from the BYU ARTS Partnership, Utah Division of Arts and Museums, 8 Utah Arts organizations (POPs), BTS Arts, and our partners. Your registration fee covers your four meals (breakfast and lunch each day) as well as the registration processing fee. Thank you to our sponsors and partners (listed below).

Can I register for a group of teachers at my school?

Yes! You can find instructions for group registration by clicking here.

Can I attend for one day only?

Yes. You may attend only one day, but the conference fee will remain the same.

Will there be an online access package this year?

Unfortunately, no. Presenter handouts will be made available online and through the app, but recorded session videos will not be made available this year. We hope you will join us in-person for an incredible conference full of hands-on, engaging workshops!

Which type of credit is best for me?

There are three types of credit you can receive for attending the conference. If you are unsure which kind of credit is best for you, speak with your principal, instructional coach, or district Arts Integration Coach.

  • 15 relicensure hours: Free. These help teachers renew and keep their professional teaching licenses active. These will appear on your MIDAS transcript.
  • 1 USBE Credit: Free. Some districts will accept USBE credit for lane changes, and others will not. This will appear on your MIDAS transcript.
  • 1 BYU Credit: Cost: $48. Most districts accept BYU credit for lane changes. This can count towards your Arts Integration Endorsement as an elective credit, but please focus on one arts area (e.g., the majority of sessions attended were dance so that it can count as a dance elective). This will appear on your BYU transcript.

How do I sign up for credit?

To sign up for 1 BYU credit, click here. The cost is $48. You must register online for BYU credit by June 5th.

For 1 USBE credit or USBE Relicensure hours: on your attendance verification form, which you will recieve at the conference, indicate which type of credit you would like to receive and provide your Cactus ID. Turn in your attendance verification form before leaving the conference. We will take care of the rest!

How do I receive credit for the conference?

At the conference, you will receive an attendance verification form. For relicensure hours, you will turn in the form before leaving the conference. For USBE or BYU credit, you will turn in the form and also need to submit a one-page implementation report of how you will implement what you learned at the conference—email reports to artspartnership@byu.edu by July 15, 2024. See the attendance verification form for additional details.

Can I receive both relicensure hours and USBE or BYU credit?

No. You can only receive one type of credit: up to 15 relicensure hours OR 1 USBE credit OR 1 BYU credit.
