GSB Wellness Day Fall 2023

The Gabelli School of Business Office of Graduate Advising and Student Engagement invites you to a day of wellness.

With finals coming up and the Spring term coming to a close, it is a very stressful time.  The goal of these workshops and presentations is to promote well-being and mindfulness, and to learn better ways to treat the mind, body, and brain. Several of the workshops will be hands-on, so get ready to roll up your sleeves for some impactful activities.

GSB graduate students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend.

This event will be held in person in the South Lounge, Lowenstein Building on the Lincoln Center Campus.

Procrastinating the Procrastination

This is a focus skills workshop on how to turn off TikTok and finish that homework assignment. Social media and the pandemic, which we are still living through, have affected our ability to pay attention for long periods of time. Distractibility adversely affects learning, the academic experience, and overall project management, no matter where that project may be.

This workshop will highlight focus skill-building from science, student success stories, and personal anecdotes about the difficulty of finishing a dissertation through the diversions from work, family, life, and Netflix.

Time: 1:00 PM - 1:50 PM

Dr. Kate Shea Kennon

Student Success Centered Assistant Dean in the Academic Advising and Student Engagement Office of the Gabelli School of Business Fordham University with skills in student affairs management, event planning, written communication, and public speaking. She is an education professional that holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) focused in Educational Leadership and Administration from Fordham University. Her research interest prioritizes student engagement and retention, community building and integration.

The Mindful Doodle

This workshop offers meditation and art making for wellbeing. Beginning with a simple doodle, participants will engage in meditative art making exercises while creating their own abstract art work that is grounded in mindfulness principles. Art making activities include drawing, tracing, cutting, pasting, and coloring.

All levels of artistic abilities are welcome!

Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
