B-BAY Afterschool 2024 Application

Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis and will recieve a response within two weeks of receipt of all application documents. The final deadline to apply is January 24, 2024 at 5pm PST.

B-BAY Afterschool

Are you a middle school student who is interested in business but have other summer plans? Check out the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth Middle School Afterschool Program! B-BAY Afterschool is a virtual experience offered to students currently in grades 6-8th!

Facing change head-on is familiar territory for entrepreneurs. An entrepreneurial mindset allows you to overcome challenges, make predictions about the future, learn from mistakes, and strive for improvement. While you will face the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 for years to come, as a future business leader you can be a part of shaping the new normal. B-BAY Afterschool will allow you to do just that! Through instruction from BerkeleyHaas faculty, industry experts, college teaching assistant mentors and critical thinking, problem solving workshops with your peers, students will work in teams to utilize new found knowledge to develop a solution for a Social Impact problem as we transition into a Long or Post-Covid world.

Program Schedule

B-BAY Afterschool will be 100% virtual. Students must be able to access Zoom and Canvas.

Program Dates:

Gold Cohort: February 1 - April 11, 2024 Mondays and Wednesday 3:30-4:30 PST*

Blue Cohort: February 5 - April 15, 2024 Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:30pm PST*

*Note: Cohorts will not meet March 25 -March 29, 2024 due to UCB Spring Recess

Application Instructions

Please note there is a $80 application fee. Program fee of $1700 is due at the time of registration.

In 300 words or less, respond to the following. Use 12-point font size, Times New Roman, and insert header including Last Name, First Name in the upper right corner. The essay should respond to the following:

One of the BerkeleyHaas defining principles is “Question the Status Quo.” Clearly Describe a situation where you have questioned the status quo. Why is it important to question the status quo? How would participating in Berkeley Business Academy for Youth help you as you pursue your education.

*Essay should be a PDF, Doc, or Docx file.

We recommend completing the essay before beginning the application.

Accepted students will have 10 days (including weekends) after acceptance to register for the program. Program fee of $1700 is due at the time of registration.
