Hotel                                                                                                                                                                      

We have arranged for a limited courtesy block of 10 rooms at the La Jolla Shores Hotel. The block link will be available soon. Once the link is live, please book your room promply as this is a popular destination. Transportation from the hotel will be coordinated between the hotel's shuttle service and the program organizers (see Transportation Section).

Parking

Parking permits are required on the UC San Diego campus seven days a week: Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 11:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 10:30am to 11:00pm.

  • Permits may be purchased online through the Transportation & Parking Services website or via the ParkMobile App.

    • If using the ParkMobile App, enter zone number4752in the search field > Select “UCSD - Valid in "V spaces” and proceed to finalize payment. Note: The Visitor parking rate is available at $35/day.

  • The most convenient parking location is the Hopkins Parking Structure located on Hopkins Dr. and Voigt Dr., just south of SDSC.

  • Parking legally is the attendee’s responsibility. The penalty for an improperly parked car is at least $65 per day. We cannot be held responsible for citations issued for parking in an incorrect space or improperly displaying your permit.

  • Due to challenges with parking on-campus, we do advise using other methods such as some noted below if possible. 

Transportation

Ride share services are recommended if you chose not to drive onto campus.

La Jolla Shores Shuttle

If you are staying at the La Jolla Shores Hotel there will be a shuttle to take you to and from the event. The driver will be in a Toyota Sienna with LJSH on the side of it. Please note the shuttle schedule below.

Wednesday, November 8:

  • Morning: 7:30 AM Departure. Please meet below the staircase of the hotel 5-10 minutes prior to departure. 
    • Anyone leftover can meet with Jon & Don below the staircase to carpool to the event.
  • Evening: 6:30 PM Departure. Please meet in front of the San Diego Supercomputer Center 5-10 minutes prior to departure.

Thursday, November 9:

  • Morning: 7:30 AM Departure. Please meet below the staircase of the hotel 5-10 minutes prior to departure.
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Anyone leftover can meet with Jon & Don below the staircase to carpool to the event.
  • Evening: 4:30 PM Departure. Please meet in front of the San Diego Supercomputer Center 5-10 minutes prior to departure.

General logistics during the Workshop

Food: 
Tuesday (11/7) a welcome dinner is arranged at The Shores Restaurant located at the La Jolla Shores Hotel at 5:30PM for those who have arrived. Wednesday (11/8) breakfast, lunch, and a cocktail reception will be provided. The Cocktail Reception will be hosted on campus at the Ridgewalk Social at 5:00PM. Thursday (11/9) breakfast and lunch will be provided. Light refreshments will also be provided throughout the workshop. 

Internet Access: 
Free wireless internet access is available to all attendees through the UC San Diego GUEST network. Please bring your laptop or tablet so that you can contribute to shared documents developed in the breakout sessions.
