Napa and Sonoma Counties are home to almost 900 wineries. They range from small mom-and-pop owned vineyards to large conglomerates. Treffen Wine Country puts you in the heart of world-class wineries renowned all over the globe. The Grand Tour winds through both Napa and Sonoma valleys and passes by many of them – surely, you’ll see some of your favorites!
As we leave the staging area, we will take a right turn on Arnold Drive to go up the Sonoma Valley. At mile 12, we will enter the town of Glen Ellen. Both Jack London and Hunter S. Thompson called Glen Ellen home, it is home to Jack London State Park – and the Wolf House. Soon after we’ll take a left turn on Sonoma Highway. The small towns, vineyards, and rolling terrain seem endless as we approach our crossover point. We’ll take a right turn and begin our climb over Sugarloaf Mountain as we head towards Calistoga in Napa Valley for our rest stop. Known for its natural hot springs, mud baths, spas, and wineries; historic Calistoga is also home to the “Old Faithful Geyser of California” which erupts at regular intervals…
After our break, we will head down the valley, which is home to many giants in the industry such as Mondavi, Beaulieu, Beringer Brothers, etc. From there we’ll go through more long, steep, great winding mountain roads back to Sonoma; these roads will definitely challenge your reflexes and your senses. The tour will lead us back to Viansa Winery, our tour starting point, for a gourmet buffet luncheon. The lunch pavilion and lawn sit high on the hill and have great views of the Sonoma wetlands and the southern edges of both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Since you are only 15 minutes from the resort, we recommend visiting some of the sights and shops in the area afterwards. Note: Wine is not included with your tour or meal due to liability reasons.
