Roger S. Nam

Dr. Roger S. Nam joined Candler School of Theology in 2020 after serving as dean and professor of biblical studies at Portland Seminary at George Fox University in Oregon. Before entering academia, Nam was a financial analyst in the Silicon Valley (1997-2000) and a pastor in Seoul, Korea (1994-1996). Nam is the author of Portrayals of Economic Exchange in the Book of Kings (Brill, 2012), The Theology of the Books of Ezra and Nehemiah (Cambridge University Press, 2024), and a forthcoming commentary on Ezra-Nehemiah (Westminster John Knox). He has appeared in public venues such as Religion News Service, Sojourners, Working Preacher and the Freakonomics podcast.

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung is Wisconsin’s United Methodist bishop and has served in this role since September of 2012. Prior to leading the Wisconsin Conference UMC, Bishop Jung served eight years as bishop of the Northern Illinois Conference (Chicago area) and as a pastor and District Superintendent in Wisconsin prior to that. Bishop Jung was President of United Methodist Commission on Relief (UMCOR) in 2012-2016 and currently serves as president of the General Board of Global Ministries and Korean National Plan.

Preacher: Bishop Dan Schwerin

Bishop Dan Scherwin

Rev. Schwerin was elected as a bishop of The United Methodist Church on November 3, 2022, by the North Central Jurisdiction in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was consecrated on November 5th and assigned to the Northern Illinois Area, effective January 1, 2023.

Bishop Schwerin is married to his wife, Julie. He is the father of two, Rachel Schwerin Kuschewski and Andrew Schwerin, as well as four grandchildren. His debut poetry collection, ORS, from red moon press, won the Haiku Foundation’s Touchstone Award in 2016.
