Keynote Presentation: Resilience: Thriving Not Just Surviving
Ruth Bachman The Hourglass Fund Project
As a nationally respected writer, educator, cancer advocate, inspirational speaker and author, Ruth brings a timeless message about the one constant in life – change.
A Minnesota native, Ruth has served as a kindergarten teacher, children's choir director, aerobics instructor, international travel guide and volunteer coordinator. Ruth has been speaking to the public for over 25 years, which has included work with the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. However, it was her 2003 encounter with a life-changing cancer diagnosis that led Ruth to her current role – that of an advocate for integrative care for cancer survivors and a role model for managing change whole-heartedly; with resilience, courage, and grace.
Ruth Bachman shares a message that grew out of her experience with cancer; describing cancer as the narrow spot in an hourglass. She soon realized that life is full of narrow spots – not all of them labeled cancer. They indicate change and represent the depth and intensity of life experience. She has learned that change is inevitable, and transformation is intentional.
Change and Resilience are common topics today. Ruth brings a unique perspective to what navigating change with resilience entails. Be inspired by the content to discover the resources available to move forward no matter what the circumstances.
