How do I register for the conference?

I am an Administration for Community Living Chronic Disease Self-Management Education or Falls Prevention grantee. Does the conference meet the requirement for attending a grantee meeting?

Yes, grant funding allocated for the conference can be used to register for the in-person conference. The in-person event satisfies the requirement to attend one grantee meeting per grant year.

Do you offer discounts?

The registration rate to attend the in-person event is $650. However, there are many ways to save:

Save $100 when you register at the Early Bird rate of $550.
Save $350 when you register a group (3 people or more) at the Early Bird rate of $1,600.

Is NCOA offering Senior Center professional scholarships to attend Age+Action 2024?

If you are a Senior Center professional, you may be eligible for a Senior Center scholarship. Scholarships will be available in January 2024. If you want to register before January, please select “check” as your payment method. If you are eligible for a Senior Center scholarship, we will contact you with a special code, so you will not have to pay. If you have any questions about Senior Center scholarships, please contact Dianne Stone.

All in-person conference activities will take place at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington, Virginia. The current room block is full. You can book a room at the new group rate of $309 per night for a single or double (plus tax and occupancy fee). We have limited availability so please book as soon as possible. The closest airport is Ronald Reagan National Airport. The hotel is just across from the Crystal City Metro Station. Reserve your hotel online.

What forms of payment can I use on-site at the in-person conference?

We can accept in-person payments by credit card or check. Cash payments will not be accepted.

What will your COVID-19 protocols include?

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is taking safety at our event seriously. We have implemented the following measures to promote the health and well-being of attendees and staff. All attendees are expected to consider the well-being of themselves and those around them. This includes:

Self-monitoring for COVID-19 and symptoms of other illnesses
Being fully vaccinated, including available follow-up boosters as needed
Respecting the personal space and decisions of other attendees

While we do not intend to require masks or proof of vaccination, we do expect all attendees to make a personal commitment to ensuring they are not putting themselves or others in danger of illness. We are a community and will rely on our community members to ensure the safety of the group. We will follow all local Washington, DC travel advisory guidelines.

NCOA is committed to building an environment of wellness and will be providing hand sanitizer throughout event venues, particularly in high-traffic and food/beverage service areas. As the situation evolves, so will our approach to keeping you safe.

We will communicate reminders from CDC and local authorities, so individuals can make informed decisions. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we manage this and ask that you check back here for updates.

What is the dress code for the in-person conference?

The dress code is business casual. We encourage you to bring a sweater or jacket with you since the meeting rooms are air conditioned and can be chilly.

What meals will be provided?

NCOA will host networking breakfast and lunch events on May 6-8. Appetizers will be served during the Opening and Closing Receptions.

Do you offer press passes for the 2024 Age+Action Conference?

Complimentary press access is reserved for working members of the media, subject to verification. Reporters and editors interested in attending the in-person and/or virtual events should contact Simona Combi, Public Relations Manager, in advance. Press must present official credentials, such as a link to a recently published article with byline. NCOA reserves the right to limit the number of press passes issued to a media organization.

Is there a speaker fee for presenters?

We are extremely grateful that all our speakers donate their time to help us create a dynamic and exciting agenda for our attendees. We are offering a discounted rate for presenters who attend the in-person event in Arlington, Virginia with a savings of up to $100. If you are a presenter, check your acceptance notification for the presenter registration link.

I have submitted a proposed presentation through the Call for Proposals. When will presenters be notified of acceptance?

We anticipate notifying presenters in January 2024.

When will the agenda be available to choose your sessions?

The agenda will be published by March 1, 2024.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations received before April 1, 2024 will receive a full refund, less an administrative fee of $100. Cancellations received after April 1, 2024 will not be eligible for a refund. Refund requests should be sent to conference@ncoa.org.

What do I need to do to qualify for the student rate?

We welcome students to Age+Action! Please contact conference@ncoa.org and submit one of the following accepted documents:

Copy of your current class schedule
Copy of your university transcript
Other enrollment documentation on the institution on university letterhead, signed by a department chair or other school official

Individuals who would benefit from the student rate are full-time students in an associate, undergraduate, graduate, postdoc, fellowship, or residency program.
