OVERVIEW

Timely and accurate diagnosis of upper respiratory tract infections is key to ensuring appropriate treatment, which in turn can help decrease mortality, improve patient outcomes, and support antibiotic stewardship efforts. Rapid diagnostic tests for respiratory pathogen identification represent a tremendous advancement over traditional culture-based methods. These tests not only reduce the time to diagnosis, but -- when used appropriately -- have the potential to inform antibiotic selection and duration, reduce collateral side effects of antibiotic exposure, reduce the risk of disease progression, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Join our panel of experts for an engaging educational symposium to learn about currently available rapid diagnostic tests for upper respiratory tract infections and how to best utilize these in clinical practice.
