What is the Annual Legislative Conference?

The CBCF Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global Black community. Thought leaders, legislators and concerned citizens engage on economic development, civil and social justice, public health and education issues. Join subject experts, industry leaders, elected officials and citizen activists to explore today's issues from an African American perspective. This year's conference includes over policy sessions and established braintrusts, 5 signature events, receptions, and more.

Join us for the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference (#ALC52) as we mark and celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and its largest class to date. The conference programming reflects our charge for 2023 and beyond to a continued commitment to uplifting, empowering and mobilizing Black communities through the theme.

What is the format of the 2023 Annual Legislative Conference?

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) will host its Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) with 100% of content/signature events offered in-person with select sessions recorded and released after the conference. The conference is scheduled from Wednesday, September 20 - September 24, 2023. The conference will include policy sessions and established braintrusts, 5 signature events, receptions, and more. CBC members will continue to serve as honorary co-hosts for many of these sessions.

Registration credentials are required to access all ALC programming.

Will any conference sessions, special events, or receptions be held in-person this year?

Yes, 100% of content/signature events will be offered in-person.

What is the cost of in-person conference registration?

General Attendee $ 200.00 Early-Bird (through 9/5/23); $250 Standard (9/6/23 - 9/24/23)

Emerging Leader $ 100.00 Early-Bird (through 9/5/23); $150 Standard (9/6/23 - 9/24/23)

  • Attendees 25 years old and under ONLY
  • Date of Birth must be after 1998; ID will be required at registration

Senior $ 75.00 Early-Bird (through 9/5/23); $125 Standard (9/6/23 - 9/24/23)

  • Attendees 65 years old and older
  • Date of birth must be prior to 1957; ID will be required at registration

What is included with the in-person conference registration?

All attendees that purchase a conference registration will have access to policy sessions, established braintrusts, exhibit hall and some receptions.

What are the Special Ticketed Events and how much do they cost?

Tickets are available for sale online at our ALC registration sited for designated Special Events (until capacity is reached). Conference registrants can add these tickets to their registration on the "Options" page while completing their online registrations. Tickets can also be purchased without a conference registration by selecting "Special Events Tickets Only" from the registration welcome page.

TICKET TERMS

Take care of your ticket, as it cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed, and is valid only for event and seat/table printed on ticket.  Your ticket is a revocable license to attend the event listed on the front of the ticket and is subject to the terms below.  Such license may be revoked without refund for noncompliance with terms.  Unlawful sale or attempted sale prohibited.  Tickets obtained from unauthorized sources may be invalid, lost, stolen or counterfeit and if so, are void.  


Only original tickets sold through authorized channels containing CBCF’s fraud-prevention markings will be honored and scanned for admission at event and will be valid for admission.  Tickets must be present in full and complete state, do not rip, tear or cut – it may be considered VOID.  Faxed, duplicated or copied versions of tickets are not valid.  


Events take place rain or shine.  No refunds or exchanges.  Customer/user bears all risk including cancellation of the event and of inclement weather.  Do not purchase tickets from unauthorized sources as they may be lost, stolen or counterfeit, and if so, are VOID.  Except as authorized in writing by CBCF, tickets are not transferrable.


Your ticket may not be used for advertising, promotion or other trade purposes without written consent of CBCF.  Holder assumes all risks, hazards, and dangers occurring before, during or after event, including injury by any cause, or arising from or relating in any way to the risk of contracting a communicable disease or illness (including exposure to COVID-19, a bacteria, virus, or other pathogen capable of causing a communicable disease or illness), however cause or contracted, and hereby waives all claims and potential claims against, the venue, CBCF, participants, artists, promoters, and each of their respective representatives, affiliates and personnel.

What is the refund policy for the conference?

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations by phone are not accepted. Registration cancellations must be submitted in writing by 5:00 PM (EST) by September 1, 2023 to receive a registration refund, less a $40 processing fee. No refunds will be granted for cancellation requests received by CBCF after 5:00 PM (EST) September 1, 2023. To ensure proper processing, cancellation requests must be emailed to eventsupport@cbcfinc.org. For eligible cancellation requests, CBCF will issue the refund within 45 days following the conference. Refunds will be issued for the registration amount less a $40 processing fee. PLEASE NOTE: Donations are non-refundable. By completing your registration transaction, you signify that you agree to comply with the cancellation policy for this conference.

If you experience extenuating circumstances, please send that request with medical documentation to eventsupport@cbcfinc.org. Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated for a refund on a case by case basis.

 

Substitution Policy

Registration substitution requests must be made in writing and must be submitted by the person who paid for the registration or by the original attendee by September 1, 2023. Requests may be sent via email to eventsupport@cbcfinc.org.

Will I have the ability to interact with other attendees?

Yes, attendees can engage with one another in person within the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from September 20 - September 24.

Mobile App

How do I download the app?

The mobile app will be available in the Apple and Android app stores at least one week out from the conference. Please search Annual Legislative Conference to locate the app.

What content can I access from the app?

On the app you will be able to access the full conference schedule, speakers, exhibit hall information and so much more.

Registration FAQs

What is the cost to register as an attendee for #ALC52?

The cost depends on the registration type that is selected and any additional a la carte events or receptions that are added. Please check out costs and register by visiting this link.

How do I register for the conference?

Click on the Register button at the top of this page. For the conference choose the registration option that you would like on the registration page. Most people will fall into the general attendee category. Please keep in mind that emerging leaders should be 25 and under and seniors are attendees that are 65 and over.

Do ALC speakers need to register as attendees?

Yes, confirmed speakers will need to register for ALC to complete their speaker profile and waiver. Confirmed ALC speakers will receive a welcome email with a registration link to enter the speaker portal to complete the participation waiver and to upload a headshot and bio. Speakers can use the same login credentials mentioned above to add sessions to their personal conference schedule on the ALC home page and update their profile as needed.

Media Registration FAQs

Where do media register for the conference and what are the benefits?

All media will need to complete an application to be considered to receive credentials for ALC52. Once your application is approved you will be provided with instructions on how to register. Media will have access to most of the sessions during the conference and will also have access to a media center for exclusive access to interviews.
