We are now welcoming abstract submissions for the  Westmead Research and Innovation Conference.  
 
 
Abstract Guidelines 
 
Rising Stars
The "Rising Star" category is exclusively to showcase early and mid-career research (EMCR) and innovation.  There are 5 x 5-minute speaking slots available in this session within the conference program as well as an opportunity to display your research in poster form.  A $1,000 prize will be given to the best Rising Stars talk and a prize given for first, second and third Rising Star poster 
 
EMCR's will be defined as researchers 10 years or less into their career following achievement of a post-graduate degree.
 
Honours and HDR Students 5-Minute Thesis Competition 
We invite all honours and HDR students to submit an abstract to present a 5-minute presentation of your work.  There are 6 x 5-minute speaking slots available in this session within the conference program.   A $1,000 prize will be given to the best student 5-minute thesis.   There is also the option to display your research in poster form with a prize given for first, second and third student poster. 
 
Abstract Guidelines 
 
  • Your abstract must be no longer than 300 words
  • Title, authors and affiliations are not included in the word count
  • Your abstract must follow the following format
    • Introduction to the health problem (including aims and hypothesis)
    • Body (including methods and discussion)
    • Conclusion 
    • Do not include tables, figures or graphs
    • If any intellectual property from this research has been patented or commercialised please briefly elaborate on this within your 300-word count.   Please note the abstract should not contain confidential information or data that may become the subject of a patent application or should otherwise be embargoed.  If you are unsure, please contact your organisations IP team.
    • References in the text have to be cited at the end of the abstract and are included in the 300-word count
    • The use of abbreviations and acronyms should be kept to a minimum 
 
The deadline for submitting an abstract  is 5pm on Monday 28 August 2023.
