LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Identify and understand the implications of common pediatric urologic disorders
- Recognize signs of feeding readiness
- Appropriately initiate the management of pediatric urologic disorders by ordering the appropriate imaging and diagnostic modalities and/or recognizing when to refer to the Pediatric Urology Team
- Identify the three primary methods of starting solids and understanding the evidence (or lack thereof) behind each method
- Identify common presentations of intussusception, new onset diabetes/diabetic keto acidosis, mastoiditis, retropharyngeal abscess/peritonsillar abscess in pediatric patients
- Plan the initial stabilization and management of an acutely ill pediatric patient using available clinic resources
- Assess pediatric patients who present for non-emergency care with common symptoms and complaints such as abdominal pain and vomiting, ear pain and sore throat for these more uncommon disease processes
- Be able to recognize, assess and apply treatment to patients of emergencies and injuries in out of office situations
