About the Event
The Workshop on Identifying Standards Needs to Facilitate a Circular Economy for Textiles will be held October 17, 2023 - October 19, 2023. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committees D13 on Textiles and E60 on Sustainability, with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), and will be held virtually. The language of the workshop will be English.
Objective and Scope
The workshop will bring together relevant stakeholders (e.g., textile industry professionals, sorters/graders, recyclers, sustainability professionals) to discuss what standards are needed to help facilitate circularity for textiles. Some of the needs that have been previously identified are more harmonized input specifications for recycling processes, harmonized terminology, needs for textile sorting, digital identifiers, and circular design.
This workshop will also educate the textile circularity industry about the consensus standards development process, and the roles that ASTM International and AATCC can play in fulfilling those needs.
