Hear direct from JRF on their work to calculate ‘the caring penalty’ and the radical changes in carer benefits we need to be calling for to address the stark inequalities unpaid carers face. Matt Whitticase | Carers Trust | Local Social Media Engagement, Communications & Marketing | Local carer services deliver wonderful support to unpaid carers. But how can they advertise the support they offer to unpaid carers in their area, many of whom may not even know they are an unpaid carer, that they are entitled to support or where they can access support? Getting coverage in local newspapers, radio and online news sites is a great way to make more unpaid carers in your area aware of the support you are able to offer, and how they can access that support. But to get that coverage, you need to know how to persuade journalists and media outlets to give you that coverage. And that means knowing what journalists and editors want. In this session, Carers Trust’s Head of Communications and Marketing, Matt Whitticase, will provide you with everything you need to know to get into your local paper or on to your local radio station. |
Alice Dabrowska and Claudia Venosa-Hepworth | The Cranfield Trust | Sustainable Leadership - leading in challenging times | The environment that local carer organisations are operating in is going through a period of significant upheaval and change, with rising levels of demand and stretched resources. Against this background, CEOs of local carer organisations are having to steer a course to secure the future of their organisation and at the same time maintain staff and morale. This workshop will explore sustainable leadership in the round and the support and resources available that can help you proactively manage and support both your own, and wider staff wellbeing. |
Stephen Cahill | The Cranfield Trust | Investability & winning support for your organisation |
With a challenging funding and operating environment, traditional funding models relied on by local carer organisations are under particular strain. This workshop will explore the concept of ‘investability’ and new approaches to attracting interest in, investment for and impact for your charity. With a focus on practical insights and how to steps, it will explore how you go about creating an effective ‘case for support’ both for your individual organisation and as a collective network of local carer organisations |
Andrew Russell | Carers Trust | Using Data & Evidence to support Sustainability | This workshop will look at how developing an impact culture in your organisation can strengthen your ability to deliver positive change for carers, and create the evidence base to convince funders and commissioners to invest in you. |
