If you choose the inclusive housing option on your registration form, you will be housed on a floor that will be mixed gender.

All floors will have restroom options of female, male, or gender inclusive.

Supervision on all floors will follow the 4-H policy of 1 adult per 10 youth.

California 4-H is committed to helping all our members find a comfortable living environment while at overnight events. This may include religious, accessibility, and accommodations for trans and non-binary participants. All participants are welcome to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity. Likewise, SLC participants are welcome to live in a room that matches their gender identity.

Residence Halls will have gender-inclusive bathrooms as well as gender-inclusive rooms within a designated wing. Gender-inclusive housing is available to anyone who wants to live with people with whom they feel comfortable, regardless of gender identity.

While California 4-H strives to make a safe and supportive environment for every person in our community, we recognize that there are unique needs and challenges facing the LGBTQIA, disabled and religious communities. If you or your family member feels they need additional assistance with housing selection, please contact the Conference Coordinator Jenna Colburn at jcolburn@ucanr.edu.

4-H Practices for Inclusion of Individuals of All Genders and Sexual Orientations Frequently Asked Questions

Roommates:

We will be lodging in the student Residence Halls on campus. Each room will have two people.

Intermediate members will be housed with other intermediate members (11-13), and senior (14-19) members will be housed with other senior members. Room assignments cannot be made across age groups.

Please note that within the age groups we are unable to room participants together that have two years or more of an age difference. Also, 4-H members 18 or older (at the time of conference not 4-H age) will not be housed with anyone under the age of 18.

Roommate request process for all housing options:

  1.  If you and a friend would like to room together, you must both list each other as roommates on your registration form, or you will not be rooming together. Please only list one roommate request.
  2. If you do not have a mutual roommate request, you will be assigned a roommate who has selected the same housing option- i.e., if you select the female housing option, you will be assigned a roommate who has also opted into the female housing option.
  3. “Make a new friend” is also an option for roommate selection. If you choose this option you will be roomed with someone of like age and has requested the same gender housing as you
