10th International Workshop on Radiation Processing
(In-person only event)
Date: February 5, 2024 - February 9, 2024
Event Location: The Westin San Diego Bayview, San Diego, California, United States
Organized by: ASTM Committee E61 on Radiation Processing
About the Event
The 10th International Workshop on Radiation Processing will be held February 5, 2024 - February 9, 2024. The workshop is organized by ASTM Committee E61 on Radiation Processing, and will be held in at The Westin San Diego Bayview in San Diego, California, United States in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the workshop will be English.
The workshop follows the very successful nine previous workshops given in North America and Europe. The tenth workshop continues to evolve in order to provide the most value to those attending. Attendees will get an end-to-end view of radiation processing, including dosimetric aspects. In keeping with the previous workshops, this workshop will focus on practical examples and case studies, highlighting the way in which ASTM documents can be utilized to meet the requirements in the ISO radiation standards.
This workshop will provide a combination of plenary presentations, hands-on practical exercises, informal "roundtable" sessions, and case studies. Please register early.
Attendance will be limited to the first 50 participants who register.
Objective and Scope
Standards published by ASTM International’s Committee E61, many of which are also recognized in the ISO 11137 series of standards, will form the basis for the discussions and hands-on exercises. In addition, the workshop will cover broader aspects of radiation processing such as microbiology and dose establishment, setting process specifications, process capability assessment and change control challenges. Sessions will include the more traditional topics of dosimetry selection, calibration, dose mapping and process control. Attendees will use hands-on activities to reinforce the standard practices identified in ASTM standards.
The objective is to improve the attendee’s knowledge and understanding of radiation processing to facilitate high quality decision making during routine application.
The workshop's major topics will include:
- Radiation Physics & Statistics
- Microbiology & Establish Dose Requirements
- Dosimetry Calibration, Uncertainty & Application
- Operational Qualification & Performance Qualification
- Process Capability assessment (Cpk), Establishment & Control
- Proactive Change Control
- Gamma, X-ray and Electron Beam Change Control
- ASTM EtO Update
Who Should Attend
The industry-need to improve technical competence in radiation processing and this workshop is intended for those individuals involved with their organization’s radiation processes. This would include individuals who are irradiator operators, validation personal, dosimeter and dosimetry-service suppliers, healthcare products manufacturers, sterilization service providers, food processors, quality and regulatory personnel, inspectors. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with their peers and leaders in the radiation-processing field. The workshop format is designed to provide maximum interaction between participants resulting in mutual benefits for all.
Technical Program
A technical program (presentation times and presenters’ names) will be posted on the ASTM website by early December 2023.
Registration
Registration information will be posted in late September 2023, and registration will open shortly thereafter.
Attendance will be limited to the first 50 participants who register.
