Joseph M. Tuscano, MD

Dr. Tuscano is a Professor of Medicine in the UC Davis Department of Hematology/Oncology. His areas of specialty include the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, MDS, and multiple myeloma. He is also a member of the adult stem cell transplant team. He has both basic/translation and clinical research interests that include the development of novel antibody and other immune-based therapeutics for hematologic malignancies.

Rashmi Ramasubbaiah, MD

Rashmi Ramasubbaiah, MD, is board certified in hematology and medical oncology. She combines advanced medicine – next-generation sequencing, molecular profiling – with personalized and empathetic care.

Originally from India, Dr. Ramasubbaiah received her undergraduate degree there before moving to the United States in 2001. She obtained her Master of Science in Biology from Western Kentucky University before completing her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She then completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Indiana University.

The same zeal Dr. Ramasubbaiah once had for the classroom now applies to each appointment at Marshall. “I genuinely care about patients,” said the former assistant professor for medical students, residents and oncology fellows. “I am so passionate about striving to make life better for our patients.”

When she is not working, Dr. Ramasubbaiah enjoys art and creative projects, crossword puzzles, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. 

Kristine D Abueg, RN, MSN, OCN, CBCN

Kristine D Abueg has been an oncology nurse for 23 years.  She has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient direct care, as a staff educator, and for 13 years as an oncology research nurse participating in the development of many significant cancer studies for both the National Cancer Institute and the Industry-sponsored projects.  She is a contributing author to many foundational oncology nursing textbooks and several journal articles.  Currently she serves as the hematology nurse navigator for the Kaiser Permanente Roseville Leukemia and Lymphoma Center of Excellence covering the Central Valley, Vacaville, and the Greater Sacramento Area.

Jessica Tax, BS Kinesiology, CPT, CCET, RSB Coach, OES, SFT

Jessica Tax is CEO and owner of Move Up Health and Fitness, an organization dedicated to helping you live a long, healthy, and happy life by harnessing the healing power of exercise to help you combat chronic health conditions and overcome physical challenges so you can regain and maintain your ability to engage in the activities that enrich and fulfill your life.

For over 15 years, Jessica and her team have applied the latest research and innovative designs to craft specialized exercise programs for individuals and small groups. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University and holds several certifications, including the Cancer Exercise Trainer certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. She is thrilled to be presenting for this event and looks forward to giving you guidance to help you move beyond cancer.
