Why is the 2020 WERC Annual Conference cancelled?

The health, safety and well-being of our attendees, speakers, solutions partners and staff is of paramount importance. Given the latest information available, WERC’s Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 WERC Annual Conference in Providence, RI May 3-6.

Our leadership and professional staff have been communicating daily to discuss recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), as well as authorities in Providence. We have also been tracking the travel policy restrictions affecting our members and attendees as many corporations have instituted travel bans or restrictions. It became clear that canceling is the right decision in order to protect the safety and well-being of meeting attendees. Furthermore, taking this action will ensure that our members, who represent a critical element of the supply chain, are available to ensure that people get their products and services, companies deliver on their commitments, and communities are served during this crisis.

How are cancellations being handled?

WERC will automatically cancel your existing registration and housing (if booked through onPeak). You will NOT need to contact WERC or onPeak to initiate cancellations. If you wish to keep your hotel reservation, please reach out to the hotel directly to rebook your reservation.

Will registration and solutions partner fees be refunded?

If you registered for the 2020 WERC Conference, you will receive an email by 4/6/2020 with information regarding your credit/refund options.

Solutions Partners and Corporate Members please note, information regarding credit/refund options is distributed to the Key Contact for each account.

Will attendees and solutions partners be refunded by WERC for hotel and airline costs?

WERC will not be able to reimburse you for your travel expenses. Unless you booked your hotel with onPeak, you will need to cancel your hotel reservations immediately. We suggest you contact your airline and request a refund. If they are unwilling to grant a full refund, they may be willing to reschedule you for another flight in the future.

Are all additional events associated with the 2020 Annual Conference cancelled as well?

All additional events, including receptions, the Solutions Center, facility tours and optional activities are also cancelled.

Will the 2020 Annual Conference be postponed until a later date or rescheduled?

No. Conferences the size of WERC’s are planned years in advance. We carefully coordinate with each host city to accommodate our attendees during a specific timeframe and rescheduling is not an option.

Will any sessions be made available virtually?

WERC leaders and staff are exploring options to expand online educational opportunities.

When is the next WERC Conference?

The next WERC Annual Conference is scheduled to take place in Tampa, FL May 2-5, 2021.
