Program Highlights

As a blood cancer organization, we recognize the additional barriers our Black and brown patients face when getting access to quality care. Black Americans have twice the incidence of myeloma as white Americans, with recent studies finding that Black patients are also less likely to receive the latest myeloma treatments, including transplants.

Chicagoans know this all too well. In an open letter published on Juneteenth in 2020, 36 Chicago hospitals came together to call out racism as a public health issue. In their letter, they wrote, “We are focused on improving access to care and eliminating racial biases that contribute to poor health outcomes.”

At this free community education program, you’ll hear from a myeloma survivor, learn about myeloma symptoms, treatment options, and more, and discuss ways we can work together to combat systemic racism in healthcare.

All are welcome to join us for this event.
