Please join us March 28th-29th for our Pharma Summit in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, where Ascent is located. Schaffhausen is a charming town with stunning views, situated on the Rhine River. It’s the perfect place to learn about our exciting new offerings and hear from thought-provoking speakers.

The Ascent Pharma Summit will be hosted at the Stadttheater in Schaffhausen. Stadttheater can trace its roots back to 1864 when Johann Conrad Im Thurn, a wealthy merchant, funded the construction of this magnificent theater. Christened 'Imthurneum' after its generous donor, it was inaugurated in 1867, and over the decades, was closed, reopened and refurbished multiple times. Hosting a myriad of events from children's theater, dance performances, musicals, concerts, recitals, speeches and community events, it's only fair to say that Stadttheater Schaffhausen is the undisputed cultural epicenter of the city.

Schaffhausen

Schaffhausen is a town with historic roots. A municipality in northern Switzerland, it has an estimated population of 84,000 and is located along the shore of the Rhine River.  The old town has many fine Renaissance era buildings decorated with exterior frescos, sculptures and 171 decorative bay windows, as well as the old canton fortress, the Munot. Within the Canton of Schaffhausen is the Rhine Falls, Europe's largest waterfall. Due to its proximity to the German border, the official language of Schaffhausen is German, but the main spoken language is Swiss German.

Hotel

  • While our external invitees will have 5 hotels in Schaffhausen to choose from, our main/largest hotel block is at Vienna House, where all employees will stay. 
  • Meeting Services will submit your hotel needs to Vienna House, but you will provide your credit card upon arrival/check-in to pay for your room. Please do not book your hotel room on your own for these nights. 
  • Please indicate your check in and check out dates in registration. 
  • We have a variety of room types and rates, and the rates listed are for single occupancy. If there will be more than one person in the room, an additional fee will be charged.
  • Please enjoy breakfast at the hotel, as it will not be provided at the meeting venue.

 

Vienna House

Vienna House

Opened in 2014, the contemporary Vienna House zur Bleiche Schaffhausen is located on the edge of the Old Town of Schaffhausen, adjacent to train station and close to the idyllic city centre. Each room provides a flat-screen satellite TV and bathrooms with a hairdryer and free toiletries. Guests can enjoy a drink in the bar and enjoy the included breakfast in the restaurant.

At this time, there are only Twin rooms remaining at Vienna House. The Ascent Pharma Summit room block at Vienna House includes Comfort Twin rooms for CHF 179.00, and Superior Twin rooms for CHF 189.00 (on a higher floor than the Comfort rooms.) These rates include breakfast for one person, wifi and a bottle of water, but there is an additional 2.50 each day for city tax. If there is more than one person in the room, there is an additional fee of CHF 15.00 per day.

 

Travel

Air Travel 

Closest airport: Zurich Airport (ZRH) – approximately 30 miles to Schaffhausen or 45 minutes via train

Please note that registration for the Pharma Summit opens at Stadttheater at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28th, and that refreshments will be available at 12 p.m. The meeting will conclude on Wednesday, March 29 at 12 p.m., and a light lunch will be available at Stadttheater immediately following the meeting.  When booking your travel, please note that some additional, optional events are taking place the evening of Monday, March 27th, and the afternoon of Wednesday, March 29th for some attendees. Details about these optional events will be emailed to you.  

For those needing flights to Switzerland, air travel and ticketing for this meeting must be made through CWT, our corporate travel provider. (Note that booking flights for a group/meeting is not currently available on the myCWT mobile app.) While you are welcome to book online via CTO, as this is an international flight, you may be more comfortable calling CWT directly. 

If booking online, CTO can be found on the Iris home page, under Quick Links>Travel & Expense. Search for available flights and select your flights. 

 

  • When you get the Trip Booking Information Page, you will see a drop box labeled "Is this a trip for a Cigna Internal Meeting & Events meeting? Select yes. 
  • To the right of that drop down, you will see "Select the Cigna Internal Meeting & Events meeting you're attending." Open that drop down and a list of meetings will display. Select: Ascent Pharma Summit: 32303V
  • This will identify you as an attendee of the 2023 Ascent Health Services Summit so that we can track the travel information associated with this meeting.

  • CWT/CTO is only for your air/rail ticket. Your hotel reservations for this meeting are being made by Meeting Services. 
  • Employee Flight Concentration: Keep in mind that no more than three employees that report to one manage may be on the same flight. 

Ground Transportation

For those flying into Zurich airport, there will not be transportation provided/arranged between Zurich and Schaffhausen.  The Swiss train system lives up to it’s impeccable reputation and is very intuitive to use.  It is recommended to take an approximate 45 minute long train ride to Schaffhausen. The train station is at the airport and is easily accessible via signs.  Trains run regularly between Zurich and Schaffhausen, approximately once per hour. You can find the schedule here. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, via the SBB app or from a kiosk at the train station.  Please note taxis are also available outside baggage claim.

Once in Schaffhausen, the Stadttheater is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Vienna House.

 

COVID-19 Travel, Meeting & Safety Guidelines

There are specific travel requirements from some international countries and cities when entering the US. Please access and review the CDC website for a list of locations and required entry considerations before you travel.

Before
  • Review the Travel & Entertainment Policy. 
  • Do not attend in-person if you feel unwell – for example, have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or other COVID-19 symptoms identified by the CDC, or have been in close contact within the last 10 days of the meeting start date with anyone who is known to have laboratory-confirmed COVID-19, or anyone who has any symptoms consistent with COVID-19
  • Please consider bringing masks, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for the trip duration.
During

  • Understand and abide by local and meeting COVID-19 protocols.

After

  • Understand your home airport requirements upon return after travel.
