Dear Winter 2023 Graduates,

What a special day it is! On behalf of myself and Year Up Greater Atlanta, I’d like to congratulate each and every one of you on your great accomplishment! The most rewarding part of my role is in seeing the growth and journey to graduation. Today marks the end of this journey, and the beginning of another.

Nearly a year ago, you made the decision to join Year Up. We often talk about your ‘why’ and the contributing factors that kept you motivated, engaged, and dedicated to the program. I know it was your excitement during the enrollment stage, your academic contributions, your desire to continuously learn, your drive as you transitioned to the Internship phase, and I know that it was intentional, hard work that brought you here. I celebrate you for that!

Year Up is a MOVEMENT. This movement is dedicated to closing the opportunity divide, and positively impacting the lives of young people across this country. Here in Atlanta, our goal is, and always has been, to provide a strong foundation for our scholars. As you begin your careers or continue your studies, I know that you’ll be well prepared to lead in your perspective fields and BE the movement.

As you reflect on your year at Year Up, I hope that you will find meaning in your experience. I am proud to say that you are indeed E.P.I.C. (empowered, professional, in demand, career-ready).

Although you’re graduating, you will always be a member of the Year Up family. I encourage you to stay connected, and give back by supporting our programs through alumni engagement. I am confident that as you embark on your next adventure, the path you blaze will continue to close the Opportunity Divide.
