Dr. Kristin Holoch is an Assistant Professor in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas Health System.
She has a passion for helping her patients grow their families, and for walking them through all the highs and lows of that journey. She has a special interest in fertility preservation, and has been an integral part of growing the University of Kansas Hospital's oncofertility program.
DeeJo Miller’s life changed in 2004 when her 13-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Burkitt’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Over the next 18 months she spent over 300 days inpatient with her daughter who eventually received a stem cell transplant. DeeJo was hired by Children’s Mercy as a “parent on staff” in February 2008 to utilize her experiences in the healthcare setting and collaborate with staff by serving as a voice of the families.
Through her role as Director of Patient and Family Engagement, she provides leadership to the organization to advance patient- and family-centered care principles, concepts and culture. She offers direction and expertise in planning, decision making, and organizational change related to patient and family engagement. Additionally, she leads the Patient and Family Engagement Team who oversees 20 Patient Family Advisory Councils to inspire a PFCC culture and influence the quality, safety and experience of care at Children's Mercy.
Laura Read is a survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Laura was diagnosed at a stage 2B when she was just 14 years old with the cancer in her neck and chest. She bravely endured six months of chemotherapy followed by one month of radiation. Laura recently celebrated her 20th cancer-free anniversary!
Laura is the Community Connections Manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. She is responsible for engaging more than 1,400 employees in community-wide volunteer opportunities and partners closely with the more than 300 organizations Blue KC supports to enrich the community through social services, education, arts, culture and civic endeavors.
Laura herself is also committed to the non-profit Kansas City community. She's on the Volunteer Committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City, an Advisory Board member for Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer and an active volunteer for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She is a past participant of the Man & Woman of the Year campaign where she raised more than $20,00 for cancer treatments and therapies.
Laura is married to her high school sweetheart and has a 7 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. She's a fan of hot yoga, Bravo shows, organized pantries and constantly on the search for the best grilled cheese in the city.
