Program Details

Black Americans have 1.5 - 2 times the incidence of being diagnosed with certain types of cancers and face greater barriers to care and lower access to care and the latest treatments. As a result, Black people have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial/ethnic group, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is working hard to address these disparities.

During this program, attendees will learn what types of cancers members of the Black community are more likely to be diagnosed with, ways to reduce the risk of some of these cancers, what to do if you or your loved one is diagnosed, and how to access quality care.  Additionally, expert speakers will identify members of the healthcare team in place to assist patients with navigating their care and ways to effectively communicate throughout the treatment journey.

Participants will also learn about the resources, support and financial assistance available in their community and those provided by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
