Date: December 6, 2023 - December 7, 2023
Event Location: Washington Hilton, Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Organized by: ASTM Committee E17 on Vehicle-Pavement Systems
Abstract Deadline: June 26, 2023
About the Event
The Technologies for the Mitigation of Aircraft Landing Performance Related Runway Excursion Conference will be held December 6, 2023 and December 7, 2023. The conference is organized by ASTM Committee E17 on Vehicle-Pavement Systems, and will be held in Washington, District of Columbia in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committee. The language of the conference will be English.
Objective and Scope
This conference will provide visibility to and a forum for the new and emerging standards, regulatory guidance, technology, and sensors whose intended function is to support the mitigation of runway excursion risk through the sensing and transmission of Runway Condition Assessment related data.
The topics for this event are broken down into the following categories:
- Regulators - FAA, Transport Canada, ICAO, etc.
- Standards – ASTM
- Safety Investigators – NTSB, TSB, etc.
- Sensing Technologies
- Aircraft Sensing Technologies for Wheel Braking
- Pavement Sensing Technologies
- Operators
- Airports
- Airlines
- Research Institutions – NLR, Georgia Tech, FAA etc.
It is anticipated that a representative(s) from each category will present the how their field is addressing the issue of how runway excursion risk is addressed by their specific action and how it relates to the safety assurance process of aircraft landing performance assessments and airport management.
Abstract Submission
To participate in the conference, authors must submit a 250 to 300-word preliminary abstract using the online Abstract Submission Portal no later than June 26, 2023. To ensure your abstract was received into the ASTM database, please email symposia@astm.org and let us know that you have submitted an abstract.
The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation must not be of a commercial nature. Because a limited number of abstracts will be accepted, be sure that the abstract is complete to allow for careful assessment of the presentation's suitability for this conference. The conference chair(s) will notify you via email by July 7, 2023 of your presentation’s acceptability for presentation at the symposium. If the preliminary abstract is accepted, the author will be requested to submit a final abstract a few months before the conference. The final abstracts will be distributed in a program booklet at the conference.
