Quality Improvement in Seniors Care

The Fixing Long-Term Care Act and its enhanced requirements have renewed the spotlight on quality improvement (QI) to systematically drive analysis and change in support of quality care and services. This full-day, pre-Convention session is an opportunity for homes to review their current QI program and enhance and enable quality initiatives that improve the experience for residents, families and staff.
Together we will explore the tools and framework of the QI methodology and how to use these to collaboratively reflect, adapt, adopt and abandon practices when they no longer meet or achieve desired outcomes. The day’s topics will include:
The quality framework and model for improvement
Setting up a quality improvement project
Using data for improvement (measures, data collection, variation, run charts)
Designing and testing change ideas Engaging with residents, family and caregivers

Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is a strategic imperative for seniors’ care providers who are serving an increasingly diverse resident population and working to recruit and retain an equally diverse workforce. Join this dynamic, engaging and practical half-day pre-Convention workshop to deepen your awareness and competency around embedding EDI principles into your home. We’ll use a blend of presentation, storytelling, videos, small group work and question and answer activities to enhance your understanding of definitions and concepts and offer practical applications to better support everyone living and working in our sector.
