Organized by: ASTM Committee F07 on Aerospace and Aircraft

About the Event

The 2022 Workshop on Transparent Enclosures and Materials will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Sponsored by ASTM Committee F07.08 on Transparent Enclosures and Materials, the workshop will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana in conjunction with the November the standards development meetings of Committee F07 on Aerospace and Aircraft.  This will be an in-person event only.  Virtual attendance will not be an option and a recording of the workshop will not be available afterwards.

The objective of this workshop is to provide the transparency community with up-to-date information on topics of interest and is an ideal setting for exchanging ideas with others in the transparent materials community.

Objective and Scope

At its inception, the ASTM Hydrogen Embrittlement workshop has been the only technical forum devoted to hydrogen embrittlement testing technology in the aerospace industry. The scope has steadily grown over the years and today includes aspects of research and technology across many industrial sectors, including the fastener industry, automotive industry, and the energy sector.  The workshop is an ideal setting for exchanging ideas with your technical colleagues from around the world in the global hydrogen embrittlement research and testing communities.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts for presentation are invited in all areas of hydrogen embrittlement, pure and applied research, technology including test methods, failure mechanisms, material susceptibility, coating interaction, predictive modelling, failure prevention, and other related topics. No written paper is required, and international participation is highly encouraged. Those interested in presenting at the workshop should submit a 250-300-word abstract to the Workshop Chairs no later than September 30, 2022.

Publication Information

Symposium authors are required to submit their papers for ASTM publication in an STP, an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community. After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will send authors’ instructions via email only. Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for the STP are due online no later than DATE at the ASTM Editorial Office. The corresponding author (the author who is the main contact with ASTM Headquarters) will receive a copy of his/her paper in portable document format (PDF). All published authors will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of their papers at a nominal cost. Only those papers submitted by the manuscript due date will be included in the STP.
