Meet the SOC Co-Chairs

 

Alan Hanash, MD, PhD – Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Service, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Dr. Alan Hanash is an Associate Member of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is an attending physician on the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Service, and he is faculty in the Department of Medicine and the Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program. His research focuses on the immunology of hematopoietic transplantation and immune-mediated mechanisms of tissue damage and regeneration.

Christopher Kanakry, MD – Center for Immuno-Oncology, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health

Dr. Christopher Kanakry is a Lasker Clinical Research Scholar/Tenure-Track Investigator at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. His undergraduate degree is from Harvard University and MD from Duke University prior to completing internal medicine residency and hematology/medical oncology fellowships at Johns Hopkins University. There, he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Leo Luznik before moving to the NIH at the end of 2014 to start his own laboratory. As a physician-scientist, his work focuses on better understanding the biological effects and mechanistic underpinnings of post-transplantation cyclophosphamide and translating these findings to the clinic in early phase clinical trials. Among his current clinical research activities, he has four actively recruiting clinical trials that are focused either on optimizing post-transplantation cyclophosphamide exposure across a variety of transplant platforms or integrating other therapies to reduce post-transplant relapse.
