CUSTOMS & ARRIVAL

CUSTOMS

Once you have cleared immigration you will proceed down a long corridor to the baggage claim area. Upon retrieving your luggage and proceed to customs to hand the form to the Customs Agent. Each customs line has an x ray machine where you will have to place all baggage and personal items (carry on, etc) that you have with you, for further inspection, depending on air traffic, this procedure could be skipped but be aware you may have to do it. You are expected to lift your own luggage and retrieve it once it has cleared, a further manual revision of your luggage is lottery based with passengers pressing a button on the “traffic light” which flashes a red or green light: green means "go" and red means "inspection".

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Once finalizing this process walk through a set of glass doors that leads into a hallway where there will be time share agents from various hotels in the destination. DO NOT stop regardless of what is said to you. The people in this hall are strictly there to sell you a time share, they do not have your information and will not provide you with transportation. Follow the hall to the last set of glass doors leading outside where one of our Amstar staff will be waiting for you.

HELPFUL TIPS

BAGGAGE/LUGGAGE
You can check baggage from your home airport to Puerto Vallarta, even if you change planes along the way. Make sure your final destination says PVR (Puerto Vallarta Airport). Please be advised that airlines strictly adhere to the one carry-on and one personal item policy. *Golf clubs count as one check-through bag.

LUGGAGE TRAVEL TIP
We all know that sometimes luggage takes a short detour. Try “Togetherness Packing” with his and her clothes in each bag, rather than separate bags for each of you. If a bag is delayed, it becomes an inconvenience you share, not a disaster for one of you.

CLOTHING & WEATHER
Casual summer wear can be worn during the day any time of the year but be sure to bring a jacket or sweater for occasional cooler evenings. In January, the average temperature for the resort is 80°F, which remains constant throughout the month. There’s so much to be seen at the Hilton Vallarta Riviera All-Inclusive Resort, so remember to pack comfortable shoes. Be sure to bring adequate sun protection, a bathing suit, sunglasses, a sun hat and flip flops. For our gala, remember to bring evening attire, which could include a nice dress, slacks and a dress shirt.

CURRENCY
US Dollars are accepted in Mexico; however, vendors may give change back in Mexican Pesos. Credit and debit cards are taken at most shops, restaurants and hotels. Cash is not accepted at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta.

MEDICAL CARE
If bringing any medication you may need to ensure that it is in a container labeled by your physician. Make sure to pack it in your carry-on luggage. If you need medical attention during the program, please see the Latham Hospitality Desk.

NAME BADGES
You will receive a name badge in your welcome packet at the Latham Hospitality Desk. Please wear it to all Latham official functions.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
Latham has planned a complete program. At your expense, you may charge laundry, 800 telephone calls, tours and personal purchases. The hotel will maintain a personal account for you and will request your credit card at check-in. Please settle this account before departure.

TIPPING AND GRATUITIES
Tips and gratuities have been pre-paid for all activities and events for the group.

ELECTRICITY
Puerto Vallarta runs on the same electricity as the United States, therefore it is safe to bring any devices that plug into the wall without an adapter

TIME ZONE
Puerto Vallarta is on Central Time Zone. It falls one hour behind Eastern Time Zone. If it is 8:00AM in New York, then it is 7:00AM in Puerto Vallarta.
