General Scholarship

The NM Department of Health, Office of School and Adolescent Health, is proud to offer scholarships for the 2022 event. This scholarship covers Head to Toe registration costs. It may also cover some lodging costs (for those traveling more than 90 miles to Albuquerque) and mileage reimbursement (for those traveling more than 60 miles to Albuquerque), based on availability.

If you are interested in being considered, please complete the application below. If you are able to contribute to a portion of your expenses, please indicate in your response to the last question of the survey. 

Your application will be reviewed by the NM Department of Health Scholarship Committee and the awardee(s) will be selected based on written responses.

Retta Ward Memorial Scholarship


In honor of the late Secretary of the Department of Health’s commitment to school health and the health of all New Mexicans, we have established a scholarship for attendance to the Head to Toe conference. This scholarship is bestowed to an individual new to the field of school health whose passion and commitment for their profession and improving the lives of others echoes that of Retta’s.  The scholarship covers the cost of registration fees and if living more than 60 miles outside of Albuquerque, lodging and mileage.

Helping Hands

We understand the cost of attending Head to Toe may be a hardship for some individuals/organizations.  Therefore, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to participate in the conference through our Helping Hands program.


There are a limited number of slots available.  Every consideration will be given to each applicant, but not every application will receive a grant. We will attempt to balance requests from first-time applications with those who already have experience working at the conference.  We encourage all applicants to consider whether they could pay the registration fee before they apply for this program.


If you are not selected and would still like to attend, you will be granted an extension to take advantage of the early bird registration rate.


Job Summary: As a Helping Hands program recipient, you receive complimentary full conference registration to the Head to Toe Conference. In exchange, you will be required work 10 hours. This can occur before, during and/or after the conference, depending on shift availability.


Examples of tasks that may be assigned are as follows.


Pre-event:

  • Preparing conference materials (room host packets, exhibitor welcome packets, speaker gifts)
  • Exhibitor outreach


During event:

  • Room Host: Supporting the speaker and monitoring the session room.
  • Registration:  Checking in attendees and answering questions
