This online orientation provides an introduction to the role and responsibilities of the Accreditation Liaison Officer within their own institution and the Higher Learning Commission. This six-week orientation training is self-paced and includes modules highlighting various responsibilities of the role. Modules include an overview of institutional accreditation and peer review, as well as details about managing substantive change activities on your campus, expectations of regular and mandatory data reporting to HLC, and staying current using HLC’s website.
The training also features tips from experienced ALOs about how to work successfully with HLC staff and build support for accreditation work on campus. This online training is open to all institutional ALOs. Two live Zoom sessions will be offered so participants have an opportunity to ask questions of HLC staff and facilitators. The Zoom sessions are scheduled for October 17 at 1:00 p.m. CT and November 1 at 1:00 p.m. CT.
The course syllabus will be emailed to each confirmed participant prior to the start date of the course. All other materials and links for participation will be included in SparQ and available when the session opens on October 3, 2022.
Participants who have a high-speed internet connection should not have difficulty connecting to SparQ. ALOs or their respective institutions are responsible for purchasing any software upgrades necessary to participate in the online course.
