ICFSMA 2023

THE 7th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FERROMAGNETIC SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS

College Station, Texas
May 14 - 19, 2023

ICFSMA

The 7th International Conference on Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys (ICFSMA 2023) welcomes all scientists and engineers from all around the world to College Station, TX, the home of Texas A&M University. As always, the primary goal of the conference is to present an overview of the world-wide research and development in the field of magnetic shape memory alloys and related phenomena. Emphasis will be given to fundamental studies and applications of Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys (FSMAs). After a very long period of isolation due to pandemic, we believe this conference will once again bring together the FSMA community and provide an inspiring environment for developing new ideas, forging collaborations.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

In-Memoriam Session in honor of Professor Peter Entel

Professor Peter Entel dedicated the last stage of his outstanding scientific career to understand the fundamental physical underpinnings of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys. His work provided a unique view into the nature of the martensitic transformation in Heusler alloys, and he and his students, collaborators, and friends from around the world leveraged these insights to design novel materials with groundbreaking scientific and technological implications. His sad passing last year meant that our community will be forever deprived of Peter’s kindness, generosity, and wisdom. Yet, he left a large community of friends who carry on research inspired by his enduring work. To honor and celebrate his scientific life, we will be organizing a special session dedicated to work (theoretical, computational and/or experimental) that was/is inspired by fundamental research on the electronic, magnetic, and structural microscopic phenomena associated to coupled phase transitions in functional alloys. Please join us in remembering Professor Entel’s great memory.
