36th Annual Conference Spanning the Continuum of Care
Innovations in the Practice of Age-Friendly Care

September 30, 2022
9:00 am-4:00 pm

Virtual Event
Rochester, NY

Geriatric education is essential for primary care and family practice teams who see the majority of the population aged 65+.  There are not enough geriatricians to serve the growing number of older adults in the US.  This conference educates healthcare professionals with the goal of improving care and thus outcomes for older patients.  Limited exposure to geriatric principles limits the competence of health care professionals in treating older adults.  We will focus on Parkinson's disease, delirium, mental health disparities, and optimizing nursing home care.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Identify the core tenet of socioemotional selectivity theory and its application to older adults.

  2. Describe the outcomes and prevalence of delirium and delirium superimposed on dementia.

  3. Recognize the mutlidimensional palliative care needs of persons living with Parkinson's and those who care for them.

  4. Identify barriers to meeting older adult mental health and substance abuse needs.

  5. Discuss important PALTC policy issues for 2022.
