Code of Conduct

At the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), we want every event to be a safe and productive environment for everyone, online and offline. To that end, this code of conduct spells out the behaviour we expect from all participants.

The core of our approach is this:

We do not condone harassment or offensive behaviour, at our event venues or anywhere. It's counter to our institute values. More importantly, it's counter to our values as human beings. We're voicing our strong, unequivocal support of appropriate behaviour by all participants at our events.

EIGE is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof),  technology choices (the adoption or rejection by an individual of certain technological innovations) or any other grounds.

Inappropriate behaviour can take many forms such as slurs; jokes; derogatory statements; foul or obscene language; intimidation or silencing; stalking or following; staring; gestures; pictures, drawings or cartoons; violating personal space by impeding or blocking another person's movement or otherwise physically interfering with them; harassing photography or recordings; failure to safeguard confidential or privately shared information, including publication of private communication without consent; unwanted or offensive letters or poems; offensive email or voicemail messages; or social media postings.

We expect all participants—attendees, speakers, partners, and staff—to follow the Code of Conduct during the event both online and off. This applies to programmes, events, and spaces, including event-related social events at off-site locations, and in related online communities and social media.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Event participants violating this Code of Conduct may be expelled from the event at any time, and/or banned from future events.

If you are witness, subjected to inappropriate behaviour, or would have any concerns, then please bring this to the immediate attention of EIGE staff, or contact us at GenderEqualityForum2022@eige.europa.eu.

We invite you to help us make Gender Equality Forum a place that is welcoming and respectful to all participants.
