Timothy I. Matis, PhD PE is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at Texas Tech University. He is the former site director of the Center for Engineering Logistics and Distribution (CELDi), a university-industry cooperative research center funded by the National Science Foundation, and is presently a member of the College Industry Council on Material Handling (CICMHE) of the Material Handling Institute (MHI). Dr. Matis has been part of numerous collaborations over the years related to material handling and logistics, both with industry and government agencies. Some key areas of past investigations include maritime and international logistics, perishable goods handling, and the safety of material handling systems. His recent work has been in the integration of big data and machine learning in the management of supply chains and logistic systems.
