Program Details

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This virtual conference is designed for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician assistants, child life specialists and social workers practicing in the field of pediatric and adult oncology or primary care.  It will provide a learning opportunity to the health care community to expand their knowledge about treating their patients and bring to surface the real topics of discussion of today’s modern challenges.

 

Case presentations will include:

  • Precision Medicine
  • Transition of care as patients age
  • Nutrition
  • Mindfulness Practice

The day will end with a provocative patient driven discussion which will include a well-rounded parent panel and faculty interaction.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the nutritional challenges pediatric cancer survivors face
  • Explain a variety of strategies to help transition care as children age out of pediatrics
  • Understand the evolution of pediatric cancer treatment and the integration of precision medicine
  • Discuss how the integration of mindfulness practice can help survivors both patients and caregivers
  • Understand the importance of the parents’ perspectives on ways to improve the healthcare system.
