Program Details

Join us as LLS presents a free, virtual education program for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents living with a blood cancer. In this program we will discuss the psychological and social impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on young cancer patients and their families.

Natalie Nageeb, Psychologist, and Krys Malcolm Belc, Outpatient Education Coordinator, from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, will share their knowledge and expertise after having seen first-hand the impact on patients and families they’ve been working with. In addition, we’ll hear from a panel of parents whose children have been diagnosed and treated during this uncertain time.

Topics of discussion will include the impact the pandemic and isolation has had on children of various ages in the areas of mental health, developmental and social milestones, and ‘typical’ life transitions. The speakers will also address the societal pressure, and anxiety, children and their families are facing as society sees an increase in returning to ‘normal’, pre-pandemic life.

Pediatric support and resources offered by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will also be discussed.
