Ian W. Flinn, MD, PhD is the Director of Lymphoma Research at the Sarah Cannon Research Institute. In this role, he oversees lymphoma research throughout Sarah Cannon and its affiliates. Dr. Flinn also serves as the Director for the Sarah Cannon Center for Blood Cancer at Tennessee Oncology. Dr. Flinn’s research focuses on the development of new therapies for patients with lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. This research includes first in human to phase 3 trials with novel approaches such as immune effector cell therapies, inhibitors of the B cell receptor pathway, and BCL-2 inhibitors amongst others. His research has been widely published in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Blood.
Lindsay was born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS by a single mother and a very close knit extended family. After high school, she moved to Oxford, MS to attend the University of Mississippi, & then the University of South Carolina College of Social Work, where she obtained her Masters in Social Work in 2005. After graduation, she worked with the Wellstar Healthcare system & Emory Healthcare in Atlanta for 5 years in medical social work. In 2010, she and her husband moved to Nashville where Lindsay stayed home for 10 years to raise children. She joined Ascension St. Thomas in April 2020 as social worker for the Midtown Cancer Center. She provides individual counseling, case management, leads a support group, and helps with resource linkage to patients and their families. She has also created a variety of supportive programs & groups for patients during her 2 years at Ascension. Lindsay is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers & the Association of Oncology Social Workers. She considers it a privilege to work closely with patients and their families during their cancer journey.
