This year the 2022 Resilium Conference will once again be raising money for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Australia's leading organisation for brain cancer research. Their vision is a cure for brain cancer and they are driven by their bold mission to increase five-year brain cancer survival from 20% to 50% by 2023.
Brain cancer kills more children than any other disease in Australia, and more people under 40 than any other cancer. Sadly, there has been little improvement in survival in more than 30 years.
To change these statistics, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation has collaborated with the world's bests minds to develop an innovative, globally-respected research strategy, which is now delivering real impact. Over the last five years, they have funded 34 research projects, with more than 250 collaborators, including five world-class clinical trials. They fund and catalyse projects that demonstrate the greatest promise of rapidly improving survival rates and giving Australians with brain cancer access to effective new treatments.
An example of this is the much needed early funding they provided to get Zero Childhood Cancer off the ground. Three years on, it's a nation-wide, world-class personalised medicine program for Australian children with deadly and hard to treat cancers, with an arm specifically designed to treat kids with brain cancer.
Their collaborations aren't confined to the lab. They catalyse partnerships and work with other organisations in order to most effectively improve brain cancer survival. Last year they helped establish the Australian Brain Cancer Mission (ABCM), - a government-backed $100 million, ten-year plan to double brain cancer survival and improve patients' quality of life. The ABCM follows a roadmap for success, closely modelled on Cure Brain Cancer Foundation's research strategy, and is a partnership between our Foundation, the Federal Government, and other brain cancer and philanthropic organisations.
Cure Brain Cancer Australia will contribute $20 million to the ABCM over the next decade, and have committed $3.3 million to ABCM projects since October 2017. They need our support to help raise the rest!
Why Cure Brain Cancer Foundation?
The focus on brain cancer in Australia and around the world has never been greater. The Foundation is building on that momentum, finding breakthroughs and bringing effective new treatments to people with brain cancer. More than ever they need passionate, dedicated individuals and organisations to assist them in their mission to rapidly increase brain cancer survival.
By supporting Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, we are helping to bring world-class treatments to Australians with brain cancer, and giving a voice at the highest levels to those affected by this brutal disease.
