Mental Health and Blood Cancer:

The Emotional Impact of a Diagnosis

Thursday, May 5, 2022

Program Details

People living with a blood cancer commonly develop depression and anxiety as a response to the stress associated with diagnosis, treatment decisions, financial burden, and communication with family and friends. What's more, certain anti-cancer medications may contribute to these feelings and can impact the quality of life, delay onset of treatment, and even decrease overall survival.

Dr. Mohamad Cherry, medical director of Hematology at Atlantic Health System, and oncology social worker, Kerry Ricci will not only share years of experience and expertise on how mental health affects patients both emotionally and physically, but also advise on what patients and their caregivers can do to focus on mental self-care during cancer treatment and beyond.

In addition, attendees will also learn about the resources available in their community and those provided by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We encourage you to invite your caregiver and family members.
