2022 Master Challenge Competition Rules

By participating in a Competition (“Competition”) produced by Allured Business Media (“Nailpro”), you consent to the following rules, instructions and requirements (“Rules”).
  1. Competitors are responsible for understanding and complying with the Rules. Failure to comply with any Rule may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Nailpro.
  2. These Rules shall be enforced at Nailpro’s sole discretion. The failure (whether intentional or unintentional) of Nailpro to enforce any Rule shall not constitute a waiver of that Rule, or of any other Rule, in connection with the Competition.
  3. Nailpro reserves the right in its sole discretion to change, amend, or supplement the Rules for any reason and at any time.

 

OVERVIEW

 

  1. Competitions will be held live at the Nailpro Nail Show, co-locating with the Face & Body Skin Care Show, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, on Aug. 21-22, 2022.
  2. Four different Competitions will take place: 
        -Hand-Painted Nail Art: Competitors will have 30 minutes to complete an original hand-painted nail art design on tips.
        -Gel Polish: Competitors will have 30 minutes to complete gel polish nails on a live model.
        -Sculptured French Acrylics: Competitors will have 45 minutes to complete sculptured French acrylic nails on one hand of a live model.
        -Gel Design: Competitors will have 30 minutes to complete an original design using gel on tips.
  1. All equipment, tools, products and supplies to be used for the Competitions will be organized into identical kits and provided to each competitor by Nailpro.
  2. For Competitions that require live models, Nailpro will provide each competitor a model assigned randomly.
  3. Competitors must register in advance by the deadline of August 15, 2022.
  4. The registration fee for each Competition is US$150.00.
  5. Each Competition will be limited to 16 competitors only.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Competitors must be at least 18 years old as of January 1, 2022. Government-issued photo ID will be required to register and must be shown during the scheduled report time immediately before each Competition.
  2. Competitors must provide proof of licensure unless the competitor resides in a state or country that does not require licensing of nail professionals.
  3. Competitions will be open to all nail professionals who qualify and register; there will be no divisions based on experience or any other criteria.
  4. Competitors must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (two doses) to register and must agree to abide by the Master Challenge COVID-19 policy, including wearing masks, while participating in the Competitions.

 

REGISTRATION PROCESS

 

  1. Registration for the Competitions will be conducted online through our Registration site and will be processed in the order received.

  2. Registration requires payment of the registration fee (US$150.00 per Competition) and the following documentation: proof of COVID-19 vaccination, proof of licensure and proof of government-issued photo ID.
  3. Proof of licensure will be verified by BeauticianList. By submitting proof of licensure, you consent to receiving further electronic communication from BeauticianList.
  4. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and government-issued photo ID will be verified by Nailpro.
  5. Registrations will be in a pending status until documents are verified.
  6. Upon verification, registrations will be approved, and competitors will be confirmed. If documentation cannot be verified, a refund of the registration fee will be issued, and the individual will not be eligible to compete.
  7. If a Competition sells out before the registration deadline, a standby list will be generated.
  8. If a place in a Competition becomes available, the next individual on the standby list will be notified via email that they have been approved to compete.
  9. Registration fees are not refundable unless:
    -Documentation cannot be verified.
    -An individual on a standby list is not named at the Competitions.
    -Nailpro cancels the Competitions.
  10. Competitors give consent and grant Nailpro the right to the use of any of your work, including any and all photographs, audio, and/or video recorded during the Competitions and the Nailpro Nail Show, corresponding electronic media and/or marketing materials, without compensation. Moreover, the work produced by competitors becomes the property of Nailpro for future use without any compensation due.

 

COMPETITION PROCESS

 

  1. Competitors must wear a non-branded mask and solid black clothing during the Competitions.
  2. Competitors will be responsible for any and all costs related to participating in the Competitions, including, but not limited to, travel, food, and lodging.
  3. All equipment, tools, products, and supplies to be used for the Competitions will be organized in identical kits and provided to each competitor by Nailpro. Competitors must not bring any equipment, tools, products or supplies when they report to the Competitions.
  4. The presence or use of any equipment, tools, products or supplies other than those provided by Nailpro will result in disqualification.
  5. For Competitions that require live models, Nailpro will provide models to be assigned randomly.
  6. Competitors must report to the Competition area within the scheduled report time to show their government-issued photo ID and receive their entry numbers and kits.
  7. Competitors who cannot show their government-issued photo ID, or arrive after the scheduled report time, will forfeit their registration fee and not be allowed to compete.
  8. If a place in a Competition becomes available, any individual named from the standby list must be present to compete. Individuals named from the standby list, but not present to compete, will forfeit their registration fee.
  9. Competitors must store any personal belongings, including cellphones, during the Competitions and not access their belongings unless given permission by Nailpro.
  10. No still photography, sound, video, or other recording any part of the Competitions by any competitor will be permitted.
  11. All work must be completed by the competitor within the scheduled time. When a Competition ends, competitors must stop working and are not allowed to touch their entry or model again until given permission. 
  12. Competitors may not leave the Competition area without permission from Nailpro.
  13. Competitors must promptly clean their work stations as instructed by Nailpro.
  14. Competitors may not remove any equipment, tools, products or supplies from the Competitions without permission from Nailpro.
  15. Competitors must conduct themselves in a professional manner to assure the integrity of the Competitions. Abusive language, destructive behavior, non-consensual contact or physical violence, including the threat thereof, will not be tolerated.

 

JUDGING & AWARDS

 

  1. Competition entries will be evaluated by judges selected by Nailpro. The decision of the Nailpro judges will be final.
  2. The three entries earning the highest scores in each Competition will be announced as the first-, second- and third-place winners. Awards will be given to the first-, second- and third-place winners in each Competition at the Awards Ceremony taking place at the end of each day.
  3. Nailpro will not be responsible for storing or shipping any awards.
