Hill Visits

*There is no mask mandate at the Capitol. However, some legislators are requesting masks be worn while meeting with them. Please respect the individual legislators and wear a mask if requested. 


 

Hill Visits will take place immediately following the conclusion of the luncheon.
Transportation to and from the Capitol will be provided. 

Des Moines - will be in the Southwest House balcony gallery from 2-3 pm
Iowa City - will be in the Northwest Senate balcony gallery from 2-3 pm
Quad Cities - will be in the Northeast Senate balcony gallery from 2-3 pm
Sioux City - will be in the Southeast House balcony gallery from 2-3 pm
Burlington - will be in the Northwest Senate balcony gallery from 3-4 pm
Cedar Rapids - will be in the Southeast House balcony gallery from 3-4 pm
Council Bluffs - will be in the Northeast Senate balcony gallery from 3-4 pm
Waterloo/Cedar Falls - will be in the Southwest House balcony gallery from 3-4 pm

The Iowa Association of REALTORS® supports:

Protecting and strengthening the independent contractor status of members so our brokers and members maintain the right to classify themselves or their agents as employees or independent contractors. Of the 1.5 million members of NAR, approximately 87% of them are classified as independent contractors

Maintaining reasonable and clear licensing requirements for the REALTOR® profession and other licensed occupations to ensure the safety of clients, customers, and the general public.

Support legislation that defines ‘real estate teams’ and requires individual licensees and teams to prominently display the name of brokerage in advertising and on information available to the public.

Support public filing or access to Homeowners Association bylaws, covenants, restrictions and governing documents.

Support affordable housing legislation by addressing building design element requirements by private parties or governments that increase the cost of housing.

Support legislative changes to Groundwater Hazard Statement filings. The legislation will require submission of a GHS when there is a known groundwater hazard present. If no hazard is present, the deed or other instrument conveying real estate by the seller shall acknowledge that no known hazard is present.

Support legislation which increases funding for the military homeownership assistance program through IFA.

Bus Schedule


Cedar Rapids/ Iowa City Bus:

ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED, please use the 'register today' button above.

A bus will depart from the Cedar Rapids Sams Club Parking Lot (2605 Blairs Ferry Road NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402) at 7:45am. The bus will then travel to Iowa City Area Association of Realtors Office (847 Quarry Road Suite 110, Coralville, IA 52241) and will depart at 9:00am for Curate in Des Moines. 

Bus will depart for the return trip at 7pm from Curate. 

 

Des Moines Bus: 

ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED, please use the 'register today' button above.

A bus will depart from the Iowa Association of REALTORS® Headquarters (5950 Village View Drive #100, West Des Moines, IA 50266) at 10:45am to travel to Curate. This bus will also transport to and from the Capitol. 

Bus will depart for the return trip at 5:45pm and 7:30pm from Curate. 


VALET Parking Available


Valet Parking will be available in front of Curate beggining at 10:30am. Cars must be picked up by 7:45pm or arrangements will need to be made wtih Keck Parking the following day
