Once you have confirmed your travel preferences, your personal itinerary will be emailed to you at the email address provided during registration. Please check your documents carefully for accuracy. The name on your electronic airline or rail tickets must exactly match the name on your passport or government-issued photo ID, otherwise boarding may be denied.
What Is The Travel Policy?
TD will purchase your flight or rail travel on our group travel dates, November 1 – 4, 2022. If you wish to travel outside the group dates, you will be responsible for any additional costs of flights or rail travel on your desired dates, and additional costs of transfers to and from the hotel.
Anyone who would like to arrive or depart outside of the scheduled Vision in Action dates can be assisted by The Farm Events team at the time of registration, and will require a credit card to cover the cost of the portion of travel that falls outside the group travel dates.
Travel Documentation
Please ensure that you carry your travel documents with you at all times while travelling. We recommend your travel documents be placed in your carry-on luggage and not in your checked luggage.
COVID-19
When travelling and upon return from travel, colleagues must comply with all legal and public health requirements in addition to TD's health and safety protocols on the COVID-19 Colleague Resource Page and TD's Travel Guidance. Colleagues must ensure they follow provincial, state or country travel guidance and quarantine protocols.
The pandemic has changed the way we travel and the expectations we can set for you.
Please be sure to visit https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid to find out what you need to do to travel safely to Canada.
Before travel, check with your airline’s website to see what flying protocols are currently in place.
Canadian Travellers
Canadian citizens require government-issued photo ID to travel.
Effective from September 30, 2016, Canadian citizens with dual citizenship will only be allowed to fly into Canada if they have a valid Canadian passport, and will no longer be able to use the passport of the other country to return to Canada.
U.S. Travellers
U.S. citizens must carry a passport valid for travel to Canada, which must not expire before the date of return to the U.S. However, as entry requirements are subject to change without notice, and in order to avoid delays and misunderstandings, we strongly recommend that passports be valid for six months after the final date of stay. For further U.S. passport information, visit https://travel.state.gov.
In addition to a valid passport, all non-U.S. citizens who are Permanent Residents or Landed Immigrants in the U.S. may require additional documentation for entry into Canada. For further information, visit https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens.
Travelling to Canada during COVID-19
COVID-19 international travel rules change frequently. Check with the Department of State for travel advisories and get recommendations from the CDC before making any international travel plans to or from the U.S.
Check that you are eligible to enter Canada.
International Travellers
For International citizens, visas and passports with six months validity may be required. Based on your completed registration, McTavish Travel will advise entry requirements. International citizens are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents. For further information, visit http://www.cic.gc.ca.
Emergency Travel Medical Information
Since the Vision in Action event is a business event, you will need emergency travel medical coverage. Please refer to the Global Emergency Travel Medical Information Guide for information pertaining to your country of residence. Please also note information relating to coverage for your guest.
Travel from Home to / from the Airport or Train Station

Baggage Identification
Please remove all out-dated tags from your bag and attach the Vision in Action luggage tag provided to you before travel, and include your name, business address and cell phone number. This will identify you as part of the group, expedite the identification and safe handling of your baggage at the airport or train station, and ensure its timely and hassle-free delivery to your hotel room. We also suggest that you include your address somewhere inside your bag, in case the luggage tag goes astray.
Airport Check-In
Please refer to your personal ticket that you will receive by email for your departure time to Toronto. Due to increased airport security measures, please ensure that you check in at your designated airport a minimum of three hours prior to your flight departure to allow time for airline check-in, Immigration and Customs formalities (for U.S. and international citizens) and security clearance. Check-in will close 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Passengers who arrive late may be denied boarding.
All flight times are subject to change without prior notice. We recommend that you contact your airline, or check their website, before leaving for the airport to confirm your departure time. If you are having someone meet you at the airport on your return, they should also call the airline, or check their website, to verify your arrival time.
At present, you will be required to wear a mask in airport buildings in Canada. Certain airlines require masks to be worn in-flight, unless eating or drinking. Please check COVID-19 related travel regulations with your airline before travel.
Checked Baggage Allowance and Fees - Airlines
With the frequent changes in allowances for checked baggage, both in weight and quantity of bags, it is recommended you visit the website of your airline to ensure exact allowances and restrictions prior to packing.
A portion of the stipend you will receive is to cover the cost of the airline’s charge for baggage for you and your guest. You will need to pre-pay your baggage fee (if applicable), which can be done during online check-in for your flight 24 hours prior to departure, or at the airport. Please visit your airline’s website to confirm the amount of any applicable baggage fees. Should your luggage exceed maximum weight, you will be required to pay the excess cost at your own expense.
Carry-on Baggage Allowance
Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag plus one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, laptop or backpack. Please visit your airline’s website to confirm the applicable carry-on bag size and weight.
Passengers with more than one carry-on, plus one of the personal items listed above, will be required to check additional items at an extra cost.
Objects such as lighters, razors, corkscrews with a knife or pocket-knives are not permitted in your carry-on luggage. Please check with your airline's website prior to travel to confirm what is and is not permitted in your carry-on.
Passengers with more than one carry-on, plus one of the personal items listed above, will be required to check additional items at an extra cost.
All carry-on items are subject to screening. Ensure that all electronic devices are operational. For security reasons, you may be asked to turn on these devices. The airline reserves the right to prohibit any item that they consider to be a security risk.
For security and easy access, we advise you to carry your personal identification, valuables, airline tickets and any necessary medications in your carry-on bag, not in your checked luggage.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones on Airplanes
Canada
Pursuant to Transport Canada’s advisory related to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device, Air Canada advises passengers to follow Transport Canada’s recommendations not to turn on or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices on board aircraft, and not to stow them in checked baggage. For more information about this, please visit: https://www.tc.gc.ca.
U.S.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued an emergency order to ban all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone devices from air transportation in the United States. Individuals who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States. This prohibition includes all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices. The phones also cannot be shipped as air cargo. For further information, please visit: www.transportation.gov.
Liquids on Board
Airport security will permit up to 100ml (4 oz) of non-prescription liquid medications through the security checkpoint and onboard airplanes. Low blood sugar treatments, including glucose gel for diabetics, are permitted. Travellers can also bring 100ml (4 oz) containers of toiletries. Items must be in a one litre (quart) clear, plastic, zip-top bag. All lighters are prohibited in carry-on luggage.
Lost Baggage
It is unfortunate, but true – from time to time, luggage does go missing. Please advise a representative from The Farm Events travel team at the airport if your baggage does not arrive, so appropriate forms can be completed before departing from the airport. They will follow up with the airline to locate your baggage as quickly as possible.
We recommend that you carry essentials in your carry-on baggage (necessary toiletries, a change of clothing and prescriptions within the “Liquids on Board” guidelines above) in case the arrival of your checked baggage is delayed.
Train Station Check-In
Passengers who are not vaccinated may travel on VIA Rail.
VIA Rail still follows the federal mandate requiring that all passengers six and older wear a mask at all times in stations and on board trains, except temporarily when eating or drinking. Please note that, for the health and safety of all passengers and employees, boarding will be denied to passengers not wearing a mask, and passengers will be detrained if they refuse to wear a mask during the trip.
Please refer to your personal ticket that you will receive by email for your departure time to Toronto. You are requested to arrive at your designated train station a minimum of 45 minutes prior to your train departure to allow time for check-in. Passengers who arrive late may be denied boarding.
All train times are subject to change without prior notice. We recommend that you check with VIA Rail before leaving for the station to confirm your departure time. If you are having someone meet you at the train station on your return, they should also check with VIA Rail to verify your arrival time.
